1) One of the reasons why it's simple is they're making stuff up,

2) My argument is not "it is simple, therefore it is wrong." It's wrong because it doesn't practice good historical discipline and much of it is made up, it happens to be simple. They could have made it complex, but they didn't.

If the argument were complex, I'd say that they made it up with complexity.

This however is a very simple basic lie intended for simple-minded people. Nothing wrong with that - it's fun to pretend like you understand something [I imagine]. Give your money for a fake. I really don't care.

Say that it has some historical merit, I can tell you why it's wrong. This isn't rocket science - it's the nature of history and reality as the rest of the world knows it. Aramaic is a popular language [at least in academia] and the historical background that you need to know is elementary and widely accessible.

Isn't it great to espouse a fake religion that makes you think you are in a position to condescend to others, because it set itself up as the one true faith, while suppressing/destroying all others, and while it's texts, as numerous as they are, (more is better, LOL) have been corrupted, deleted, manipulated, doctored, interpolated, fabricated and otherwise falsified to the point that what you have is Officially-sanctioned Swiss Cheese, 'verified' by a twisted history as authentic? Enjoy your Kock-On-Dunghill game while you can; just remember that water eventually erodes hard rock away. It's just a matter of time.

I still want to know if Essene.org promotes Torah obedience, because that would be the best surefire way to know if they actually are anything close to being "Essene".

The author seems to favor the Essenes at Mt. Carmel, who are mystics. The Torah would most likely have had secondary importance to the first-hand spiritual experience of the mystic.

As spiritual head of the Nazorean sect, Yeshu would have had the privilege of interpreting Jewish law in ways he would have seen fit. After all, as he himself pointed out: 'you search the scriptures for eternal life, but it is they which speak of me'.

What do the Essenes have to with the Christian Pe****ta primacy or whether Jesus spoke Syriac or Aramaic?

Like Aramaic, the Essenes are the originals, but the 900lb gorillas of Roman Xtianity and Greek primacy bullied their way in to take all the credit, almost squishing both Essenes and Aramaic into oblivion.

It always happens that way.

The Essenes of Qumran hid their scriptures from destructive Roman forces.

Look no further than America, Manifest Destiny, and the genocide/near obliteration of the now-marginalized American Indian to see how this works.

Jesus, the blue-eyed, blonde-haired Western deity is the fiction, the myth; you've got to realize Yeshu is not a Western man; he is Eastern, just as Aramaic is, just as the teachings that were infused into the Essene practices are Eastern, but which were overwritten with pagan doctrines from the mystery religions by Rome and Paul as a device for easy and mass conversion.

The Essenes tell us that theirs was a 3-tiered teaching, with the inner mysteries known only to the more advanced members, and the outer ones designed for the initiates. It is these initiates who broke with the Essenes and who became the first Christians.

Is it any wonder that modern, Western Xtianity pushed a superficial, Hollywood myth with mass appeal known as Jesus, drowning out the real teachings and the real man known as Yeshua?

Westerners just love a good bedtime story.

There's no such thing as Greek primacy. There was no resistance to translation - we have entire families of Coptic texts, for example.

There is no record of Christian polemic against the Essenes or vice versa. If there were an interest - or if the Essenes existed at all on any kind of significant level - Christians would have attacked them openly. The "Gnostics" were a threat and Christian bishops did want them out, and later on squashed them with the force of Roman law. Not so with the Essenes.

I think we're getting to a root problem. You're judging both early and late Christianity through the Western dark ages - forgetting that Christianity became a world religion with varied theologies and practices.

Making stuff up isn't the same as understanding history. Imagination does not make it real.

Essenes are Nazarenes. Paul and Rome were out to get the Nazarenes. Remember? 'sect of the Nazarenes'?

No resistance? It's called 'forced Hellenization'.
