It's interesting how geopolitical perceptions can be so different among political factions. They may all want to protect America's allies and national interests, but there seems to be profound disagreement over what our interests are, who our friends are, and (most importantly) who our enemies are. Some might see the situation on the US border with Mexico as a graver threat to US security than Russia at present. Or, there might be those who see Iran as a more serious threat than Russia. Or maybe none of the above.
I seriously doubt that very many people give these matters much serious thought, as most people just seem to tune into the news to find out who America's "enemy du jour" happens to be. I also don't see that America's policymakers act in good faith for America's genuine national interests, and instead seem to be working towards the interests of an international coalition, not just America itself. Some see that as more of a mask to hide the ugly "American Empire" underneath, suggesting America is an imperialistic state dominating much of the world. If that's the case, then it would seem that we made some enemies along the way.
