Political Affiliation Changing in US

I'm for a smaller fiscally conservative govt that does not encourage intrusion into people's lives and choices.

But that's just me.
I'm with you on that one. Obviously there may be some nuances but the basic concept is mine too.

Gooooo libertarians.

I think you have it wrong, though.

GOP (politicians) and Dems want bigger government... gooooo libertarians!

That's what I said, it's just one party wants big government fiscally and the other wants it socially.

Yes... Elections happened at the end of 2020. A lot has happened since then. At least IMV

It would be interesting to get another young demographic sample from the last year, but I'd be surprised if the young demographic have moved closer to the GOP. As the article points out, some major flashpoints were BLM, school shootings, Trump, and climate change and these are all still relevant. I'll keep a lookout for more recent numbers.

There were attempts to shutter churches during the pandemic.
Perhaps some saw a greater threat, ie, permanent closings.
(Disclaimer: I saw no threat of the latter.)

These Churches Refuse To Close Over COVID-19. Does the Constitution Protect Their Right To Remain Open?
Actually, I believe that was the issue and the ultimate issue.

When you can restrict churches but keep strip-clubs and other businesses open... we look a little further down the line.

Appreciate it... it would be interesting!

This is true. Didn't matter if it was Republican or Democrat - spending money is the name of their game.

But, at least by rank and file, we do believe in less government and less spending.
And the democrat rank and file believe in human rights, social equality and less lobbyism.
Doesn't mean they'll get that from their party either.
However, what IS wrong, is your tax cut issue (which was for all and not just the rich).
1. No matter whom you give the tax cuts, it is money that is missing from taxes and raises the deficit.
2. Taxes have been cut since the Reagan era and it was always more beneficial for the rich. (And yes, democratic presidents did that also.)
It is an undeniable fact that wealth and income have risen exponentially for the 1% and stagnated for the masses since the seventies.

Do you have a supportive documentation or is it just your bias?

My bias as a tithing churchgoer? Not sure what you mean by that.

It was a fear at the beginning, but some churches did better than they expected. Here's one from a cursory search:

When Michigan’s governor required churches to stop meeting in person on March 16 last year, Kenton Sanders, director of operations at Mars Hill Bible Church, quickly did some worrying math.

About 40 percent of donations to the megachurch in Grandville, Michigan, came during in-person services that drew some 1,750 adults, students and children weekly. With in-person services shutting down, donations would surely tumble. If that happened, the church would have to lay off some of its staff.

“It was at the beginning of the pandemic, we had just gone online, and had no idea what was going to happen,” he said.

Fortunately for their church, their congregation stepped up. I haven't done any research to see what happened across denominations. There's no doubt pastors were worried about dropping tithes, though.
