I'm with you on that one. Obviously there may be some nuances but the basic concept is mine too.I'm for a smaller fiscally conservative govt that does not encourage intrusion into people's lives and choices.
But that's just me.

I think they are afraid that if people get out of the habit of going to church, they won't go once they open again. Fear...
I just noticed the graph is done in 2018. I think too many think have happened and may need a more current graph.
I'm judging by action. Republicans have long shat upon rights, liberty, equality, science, etc.Read the Republican creeds and mission statement.
Gooooo libertarians.
I think you have it wrong, though.
GOP (politicians) and Dems want bigger government... gooooo libertarians!
Yes... Elections happened at the end of 2020. A lot has happened since then. At least IMVDo you mean the Roper graph I posted? It goes up to 2020.
I think you're right. Plus fear of plummeting tithes.

As the article points out, some major flashpoints were BLM, school shootings, Trump, and climate change and these are all still relevant. I'll keep a lookout for more recent numbers.
160 years ago. Who do you think reveres the confederacy today by defending their statues and flying their flags? It isn't democrats.I'm not sure what history you are looking at.
Republicans pushed anti-slavery and Democrats wanted slavery.
Politics of Race: Democrat-slavery vs Republican-abolition
And the democrat rank and file believe in human rights, social equality and less lobbyism. This is true. Didn't matter if it was Republican or Democrat - spending money is the name of their game.
But, at least by rank and file, we do believe in less government and less spending.
1. No matter whom you give the tax cuts, it is money that is missing from taxes and raises the deficit. However, what IS wrong, is your tax cut issue (which was for all and not just the rich).
So you oppose libertarian ideals then? When you take "text" out of con"text" you are left with just "con"
