Done a little more digging on this and I want to change my answer to Magpie Goose which is neither a goose nor a duck. It seems they split from Screamers (Anhimidae) and ducks/geese/swans split from Magpie Geese.

I guess Screamers could be considered the 1st duck but I want it to be an Aussie so I'm voting the Magpie Goose, plus I've photographed them so that also sways my opinion.

I tried to do some research on this once and have forgotten most of it but here in Aus I seem to remember the Freckled Duck being one of the first to split from whatever they split from. Of course that's all probably changed since DNA, most of the stuff in my 1970's bird books was wrong.

Looking at the circumstances lately regarding war and death, thousands have been killed. People cry over their relatives killed. Why do you think they don't cry over those they don't know? Was it just to show how smart or rather an underlying reason or motive for even collecting new-born DNA.

Hi and hey! I wonder (thanks, by the way for the continued discussion of sorts) if you and other evolutionists think that religion is part of the evolutionary process. Seriously. No ducking if possible, because so many believe mankind is here solely because of the process of evolution.
