qur'an burning in Florida

Its not the religion its the culture and politics of the associated nations. Given enough academics I am sure it could be "proved" that Dr Seus's "Green eggs and ham" is the work of the devil from any religion.

Given also that most humans of any culture really just want to be left alone to bring up their kids we are therefore reacting to a tiny minority in each society. Yet these microbes are able to alter the entire perspective of the world once that intangible the media get a hold of it. What raises viewes raises profits. Lets induce the "truth" and report it with "emphasis" and bingo ratings go sky high.

One wombat charlatan priest burns some books, big deal they print a million more tomorrow. The point is look at the amazing effect it has had on millions.

Truth and freedom of speech is a double edged sword, mankind will be better off when it has matured enough to reach adulthood and understand it with clear reasoning rather than emotional distraction.

Tienanmen square is a good example of the truth, successfully evaded political propaganda.
The evolutionary quantal phenomena of the internet is an extremely sophisticated massive, rapidly evolving, parallel processing mechanism extension of CNS biology.
On the other hand to be purist, bestiality, child pornography, making bombs, nukes and biological weapons, which as facts must therefore also be available equally, are the down side of truth and freedom of speech. Then of course, we have the myriad of gray areas such as voluntary euthanaisia DIY sites, drug use sites, beat the patent holders DIY anti-AIDS drugs for poor countries etc.

So I stand up for freedom of speech no matter how agonizing it may seem. It comes with a price that many of my immediate ancestors paid dearly for. So as much as I am disgusted by this guys actions I cannot philosophically stop it. It his right as a human.

And yes I know, Rupert is an Aussie.

Cheers

For us (many of us) at least, the feeling is the same. With this analogy i'm trying to give you an idea of what it feels like.

And it's because of this, right here, that I'm thoroughly disgusted by this.

Whether constitutional or not - it's challenging for me to stomach hatred.

The burning should be ignored, if not forgiven.
Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive-Quran 42:37
“O God, guide these people, because they did not know what they were doing.”-Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), praying for the people of Taif who had set upon him with stones and abuses.

After the outrage of Muslims, people will call us "Violent" ... what do you want Muslims to do?! Take a bill and chill?!

Yes, that is exactly what you should do.

This is a tiny number of christians, to them I say - Stop acting like children and grow up, you are intentionally insulting people for no reason except that you are idiots.

To the irate muslims I say - Stop acting like children and grow up, these idiots are only doing this because they expect you to react badly. Take the moral high ground and don't sink to their level, ignore the stupidity of idiots such as these.

Hi Dawny. Yes, but one can take solace in the massive solidarity of interfaith (Jewish, Christian, other Muslims) support for Muslims and denouncement of the FL agent's (see A_E post below) action.

I think that calling this guy a pastor is misnomer.

He's an agent of hate.

Done here.
Book burning was popular with the Nazis.

One can draw their own conclusions.
Oh, hell, it was popular with the Christians way before it was popular with the Nazis.

People who burn books are idiots. However, you've got a right to be an idiot. You've got a right to be offensive. And these particular idiots aren't hurting anybody, so let them have their little bonfire. Who cares? All this attention has just made the pastor the most famous idiot in Florida, a state which is -- trust me on this -- Chock Full O' Idiots.

Some ******* pastor of some little jerkwater church with practically no members says he's going to burn copies of the "holy" book of the only religion in the world that's more intolerant than his own, and it's a freaking international incident. My god. No matter how ******* stupid the human race has been in the past, it can always top itself.

Are you contending the burning is immoral? If so, what precept of morality does it violate?

i could give many names to this so-called act and 'immoral' would be one of them i suppose. though i only share this link to offer a way to react against it and nothing more.

we could speak about morals. i think there are way too many ways to express anything. human being as an intellectual and empathic creature is able to find kind and friendly way to say whatever he wants to say without causing hatred, rage and fight. IMO it is a choice specially when it comes to planned actions. sometimes people, we all do or say silly things in the moment without considering out comes which is normal but this kind of stuff does not occur in present moment. it is planned and decided long before it is done; so there is a clear purpose and it is not for goodness of everyone. so basically while one could do better than damaging relations, chosing to satisfy his own ego by enslaving his mind to revenge and hatred is immoral because it is a choice. these people are not sincerely trying to remember 9/11 and remember those who lost their lives or relatives. they are openly trying to 'hurt' feelings of millions of Muslims. as i said, i could give many names to it. for instance sadism is one of them too..... :angel2:IMO:angel2:

I think the real message will be clear on 09/11 when the anti-Quran-burning protesters FAR outnumber those in support of the burning.

Hopefully that message will also be the message Muslims get: that we are with you on this one, and that this guy is a tool.

A tool of what or whom?

i hope so too. but note that whatever happens, nothing would go in vain. even a tiny piece of wisdom and humanity is meaningful. i know how you percieve it and any Muslim around me whom i talk about this issue would also know you and many others like you stand against it. in a world like this it must be duty of each person to carry out what's positive. i mean, both Western and Eastern media do great job speaking about any kind of negative stuff. well, anyways.... just so you know, Muslims will get your message, through me, even if they burn Qur'an
