"Religious People Distrust Atheists as Much as Rapists"

I don't take it personally, I believe most of the time they despise us because we're challenging the idea they have that they're going to live forever and as we're so hardwired to not want to die it causes a nasty emotional cocktail of anger and anxiety. You also have those who distrust us based purely on a belief that we are somehow rejecting god or disrespecting god (that we all know exists but pretend doesn't because we love sin so much apparently.) They believe their religion is correct so I understand this response too.

I assume my point was clear. The fact that an atheist is moral, does not prove that God is not necessary for one to be moral.
That's like trying to take credit for something you didn't do. Many things that were considered moral and proper in the Bible are considered immoral and wrong today, such as animal sacrifices, slavery, and even Christians would condemn anyone who thought of dashing infants against rocks. How can it be said that morality comes from god when the morality of today barely resembles what was moral when his book was penned?

Study of the Day: Religious People Distrust Atheists as Much as Rapists

WTH religious people? Why do you distrust atheists so much? You know they don't really eat babies, right? That is just a joke.

I can believe it.

Right..... so just google 'atheists in prison' to learn that there is just a fraction of the atheist community in prison, it's all those righteous religious believers who are locked up. And I speak from experience as I was a guest of the Queen myself for awhile, way back in the 60's, on the Isle of Wight. Yes, I remember we had free soap from the Queen. No, it's the ignorant Christians who are locked up, who want to believe they are so righteous, and saying the atheists are the evil empire. It's too sad to think about isn't it? Well, maybe it's because you've been brainwashed from birth by your Christian culture to think you are the 'chosen' ones, superior to non Christians. Yes, right, just give me your money and I too will promise you will go to heaven, etc., etc.

I don't distrust atheists anymore than anyone else. My trust is earned based on how the person behaves and the fact that someone is a fellow believer doesn't make that person automatically trustworthy in my eyes.
I would certainly not insult atheists by comparing them to rapists.

JW basically believes that ALL other churches and religions are dominated by Satan the Devil and Evil, and will not enter nor attend any other church nor house of worship.

Essentially JW is non-discriminating and do not 'Trust' any one outside their own belief system.

People always have their "reasons" for prejudice, but it is still prejudice.
Of course. We all operate out of these. As I said, it's shortcuts to quick and easy assessment of potential threats. We size others up quickly on short paths to self-protection, thanks to evolution. It may not hold up to rational scrutiny, once it's examined at that level, but threat-assessment operates at a much less sophisticated level. We are layers of evolution in us, and stereotyping is part of that. The "reasons" offered for these never measure up to rational scrutiny, because they weren't born from that space.

I question the validity of this.I really think studies like this tend to have problems with how questions are phrased and that people misinterpret the findings to their own means.

I know if I were to ask someone who they trusted less, a rapist would be named 9 times out of 10.

Though an atheist rapist? All bets are off.

I know if I were to ask someone who they trusted less, a rapist would be named 9 times out of 10.

I don't take it personally, I believe most of the time they despise us because we're challenging the idea

For a group who voluntarily en masse decide to come onto religious forums, you guys sure seem to be oppressed. Compared to other groups most people just... don't care if someone is religious or atheist except in areas where everyone who isn't Christian gets screwed over.

My question is how did Obama just signed a law protecting atheists from Religious persecution.
When Obama is not the President since January 20th 2017.

My other question is, if Obama claims to be a Christian, How or why does Obama go against christians, How can a person claim to be one thing, But yet go against it?

That's like a Atheist claiming to be Atheist, But yet going out protesting against Atheists. What's up with all that?

That's because obama is not a true Christian, only pretending to be a Christian, a Wolf in Sheep Clothing.
No more than a Atheist that claims to be a Atheist, But out Protesting against Atheists.
A Wolf in Sheep Clothing.
Go Figure?
like a Homosexual, that's out Protesting against the Homosexualit, What's that all about?

Therefore Obama is not a Christian only a Wolf in Sheep Clothing.

The article is dated to when he was president in 2016, hence the title in the link.

Also, come on let's be real. Giving someone else the same protections that other groups have isn't doing anything against the original group. It's just being more fair.

Unless of course you think doing anything for anyone other than your group hurts it, which tells me maybe your group isn't so stable unless it can pick on other groups.

When I read the person post the time given was Yesterday, Maybe that person should haved stated when Obama said what he said.
But when a person looks at the time and date of being yesterday. Then say, obama just signed. That would mean this time and date.
They never indicating it was a year ago, only Obama just signed. Meaning either that day or a day before.

Either way it's probably just a typo

But the main point is, Obama is not a Christian, No more than a Atheist, That's out Protesting against Atheism. Or a Homosexual out Protesting against Homosexualit.

Maybe you don't understand this, but that wasn't them saying that, that was just the title of the article that was linked, which the forums auto displayed. If you clicked the sentence it would of taken you to the article with that title. The article was dated December 2016.

Uh, I don't see how he isn't a Christian. He went to church and all of that. What the heck do you think he is, an atheist? What has he done to protest Christians?

Maybe you just meant in general and not in response to that article, but I don't see how saying, "Alright, don't fire or evict people for being atheists, just the same as we don't fire or evict people for having a religion." is protesting Christianity.

Hell if that was what you meant by it, why not argue it's protesting all religion? Why specifically decide on your religion of all religions? If it was against any religion it would be against all of them. But I rather think it's just saying hey, you get the same rights as us to make it fair. I can agree with that, even if I can't agree with hard atheism.

Like I said Obama is just a Wolf in Sheep Clothing.
Just because someone goes to church does not make them automatically a Christian.
So Obama as a Christian was only being fair. That's what you said.
So then a person who is Atheist is out Protesting against Atheistism their only being fair also.
Or a Homosexual is out Protesting against Homosexualit, is only being fair also.

Are you freaking kidding me.

lol "atheistism"? Sorry I just found that funny.

But for real, repeating the same thing isn't going to make me understand what the heck you are trying to say. You've didn't tell me how he "protested" Christianity which I think is what I was asking. You keep asserting it but haven't offered me an actual explanation.

I question the validity of this.
I don't, and I've posted other studies that show the same general trend. When you don't have a god or religion, once it's known, it's not uncommon for some to react negatively. To some, just being atheist alone means you aren't a good person. We also had the recent thread about the atheist billboard came down after a week or two, and it offended some so deeply they declared they would do collateral damage to party that wasn't involved with it (the gas station they said they wouldn't do business with anymore). Even when you're agnostic, people hate the idea of someone being godless so much that they get lumped with atheists, or are met with a kind of "well, at least you believe in something" type of mentality, both of which are bad because there is nothing wrong with being atheists and the aren't the inherently bad people many think they are, and it ignores the position of ignorance that agnostics adhere to. I posted a link that mentioned non-theists being not being treated as well, and in my experience I've seen "unknown" put down as my religious preference/affiliation instead of "none" which is what I told them.
JW basically believes that ALL other churches and religions are dominated by Satan the Devil and Evil, and will not enter nor attend any other church nor house of worship.
Many churches are like that. The last one I went to, the pastor seemed fond out pointing why Methodists and Catholics and Lutherans and everybody else who isn't Baptist is wrong and going to Hell.

But the main point is, Obama is not a Christian
You cannot prove this claim, and there is more than sufficient evidence to support he is. Plus, it's not even your place to decide that anyways, but god's.

That's right its God place. That's why we have God's word to show who is and who isn't Christian.

You want me to believe that God stands with Atheistism, Atheists stand against God in denying the existence of God.

"But Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven" Matthew 10:33

Notice the word ( whosoever ) This means anyone and everyone. Who deny's Christ, Christ will also deny them.

Therefore Obama can not stand for Atheist and then be against Atheistism.
It's either for or against. Obama can not stand for Atheistism and then against.
That's being a two face hypocrite.

Christianity doesn't work that way, No more than Atheists which deny's God.
