It's also ironic that those opposing these actions are painting everyone with a broad brush who takes part in it as "immature," "racist," or "anti-Islamic," when it seems they are more than ready to point out any criticism of any Muslims, as painting all Muslims with a broad brush.

Not at all. It would mean they just made a wrong reaction, to the already clarified to be also a wrong reaction by Muslims.

Muslims overreact, which is wrong. That doesn't mean others should do wrong too as a response to that.

And so what if it IS only about ******* people off (which it obviously isn't to anyone with half a brain, but anyway..), so what? Are we to wear kid gloves 24\7 to accommodate all the poor butthurt whiners of the world now?

I think these crybabys need to grow a set and reallize people will always have their own opinions, and they may not like them all. I for one will never stop speaking my mind to accommodate some peoples fragile sensibilities.

There is nothing wrong with speaking up your mind.

What i think is wrong is to do all this, just to prove to Muslims that they can't oppress you. You don't need to prove that to anyone.

Thats just it, though. If it weren't for muslims aggressively pushing for special treatment there would be no backlash. I for one have no desire for my grandchildren to live under sharia law.Resistence is important

yes, OK, but IMO the real issue is what kind of mentality lays behind these kind of events and how free speech is abused as a concept to legalize hatred towards Muslims. it's only the title of it that makes it acceptable, not its content. under the flag of free speech which is a kind of freedom that we all need to be individuals without doubt, people unite to express hatred and racism. this is no better than Muslims marching on the streets, saying "behead those who insult Islam". this is not a joke, Perfect Circle. this is not funny, this is not what free speech is. i do know what happens if people don't have freedom of speech because i grew up in certain time of my nation where people were arrested for having an opinion. but i also do know that any freedom with no end is cruelty and dictatorship because those who hung young people in Turkey in 80s and sent thousands to jail for being leftists or communists were the ones who had free speech with no deadline. because they did draw the line as they wished, ignoring who'd have opposing idea

.

I understand your concerns .lava, but in the same way that free speech is "abused" to legalize hate towards muslims, it's also "abused" to legalize hate towards gays, jews, blacks, whites, asians, christians, and any other group you can think of. If we make it illegal to criticize or mock muslims, then we have to do the same for every other group.

It's easy to put any old picture up and claim it is an icon of the Prophet (SAW)! Anyone who knows about Islam knows that depictions of the Prophet (SAW) is forbidden.

Yes i agree, and of course you don't want your grand children to live under Sharia law. You are not a Muslim. If you live under Sharia law, would actually be an insult.

However, resistance have different ways. Some of them are wrong, and some of them are right.

I agree that we don't need to keep our opinions silent to accommodate people, but there is at least some amount of tact that needs to be used. We don't need to offend people simply for the sake of being able to offend them, that's just stupid, rude, and juvenile.
