Why can't the US instill actual family values? Like the right to Family?

Aly on Reels |

We are one of the worst places in the world to raise a family.

"UNICEF Study Confirms: The U.S. Ranks Last For Family-Friendly Policies."

But that's ok, we have transgender bans, drag bans, book bans, and a war on "woke".... Right?

Edit: Can't forget the thousands of dead children due to gun violence too.

Ngl, it still baffles me that the US offers no minimum national maternal or paternal leave.
Like I would like our government to offer more, no doubt.
But that’s been such a given for like all my life that I just assumed the US must give like heaps, due to it being a world superpower

So your not talking about family issues exactly.

Your actually talking about sexual orientation issues, book bans, 2nd amendment issues and such.

No what I said is those are what the GOP thinks protects kids. (Read post #2)

How about actual family care? Maternal leave, child healthcare, daycare subsidies etc etc etc.

Isn't the GOP the party of family values and caring for children?

We Never Know

No Slack

"In California, which has no minimum legal marriage age, a 2017 bill to ban the practice was defeated after advocates—including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)—lobbied against it. The ACLU specifically argued that the legislation “unnecessarily and unduly intrudes on the fundamental rights of marriage without sufficient cause,” adding that “largely banning marriage under 18, before we have evidence regarding the nature and severity of the problem, however, puts the cart before the horse.” Other opponents have argued that if a pregnancy is involved, the parties should be encouraged to get married, regardless of age"

So basically it's entitlements that people are after.

I'm OK with that as long as it dosent put a burden on other people.

Those horrible spoiled children who think they are entitled to food, shelter, education etc. It is like they think they can live rent free just because they are only three years old. Communism!

Then get the constitution amended because it allows for that. It is called laws and taxes.

It is a burden on me that I can't drunk drive and drive in a car I have to maintain for road safety. It infringes on my individual liberty to do as I please and forces my to use my money. Further for public roads it is a burden on me that I have to pay taxes for that.
The USA is a fascist, communistic dictatorship because of that. Freedom!

Now you have to kill all the people in the USA and the rest of the world, because we are out to take your freedom!!! We are so evil and we are a burden because we make laws for the common good, than violates your absolute, universal, individual right to FREEDOM!!!

Democrats are the party of welfare and entitlements. Nothing more.

Definitely not the party of actually helping people escape and prosper on their own, nullifying said entitlements that shouldn't even be there in the first place.

Yep. But you got to admire the Senate in North Dakota. They shut down that horrible lunch program for greedy lazy school children, and then rewarded themselves for a job well done by increasing their own lunch allowance.

I really hope they enjoy their meal and the thought of hungry children doesn’t bother them.

I never got a free lunch at my school.

Either my parents made lunch for me, or they gave me lunch money to buy my lunch.

And you're representative of 315 million US citizens? Laughable that you think this has any bearing whatsoever.

Edit: Things have changed in 60+ years keep up old man.

"One in eight children in America live in households without consistent access to adequate food."

School lunch is often the only food children get.

Can I ask, and this might be a dumb question.

The US has compulsory Superannuation, right?
You guys might call it something different. Not sure

(Contributions made to employees’ retirement funds, done by employers.)

In mny cases, yes.

The catch is you have to work full time to qualify, and most places won't hire full time workers anymore, thanks Obama.

Oh really?

So that requirement was put in place by the Obama administration?
That wasn’t the case prior?

No, but Obama put the ACA in place, which required employers to fund healthcare for all full time employees. So they just stopped hiring full in a lot of service sectors.

As of 2015 so a bit out of date

"Quite simply, US employers do not have to sponsor workplace retirement schemes, and US employees are not compelled to participate in such schemes even if their employer offers one. The US voluntary workplace retirement system has led to only about 40% of the working population participating in such plans."
