RPGs!!!!!!!!

I used to play tabletop RPG's, and even GM a little.
Favorites: Shadowrun, CoC, Star Wars and a Swedish AD&D inspired game (different, no levels for instance), some homebrew as well. It was fun. Now I have to contend with Computer Rag's...

I've been an MMORPG fan since I can remember, and I won't get into console-based ones here:p. I started playing java-based DnD and MUDs when I was eight or so, then moved on to graphical RPGs. Here's a short list of games I've dedicated my time to, and not just in passing. Currently, I'm looking to get back into Nexus.

Nexus: Kingdom of the Winds (high end)
EverQuest 1 (high end)
EverQuest 2 (high end)
Dark Ages (high end)
Anarchy Online (moderate character advancement)
Dark Age of Camelot (moderate character advancement)
Acheron's Call (low-end character advancement)

World of Warcraft (moderate character advancement)
Guild Wars (high end)
Eternal Visions (high end)
White Wolf Online (moderate character advancement)
Dofus (moderate character advancement)
Star Wars: Galaxies (before SOE messed it up, high end)
Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 (high end)
Athantasy (high end)

Wow! I played Nexus, too. (Well, briefly. I played "Dark Ages" longer). Neale, did you ever play the "Final Fantasy XI" (online) game?

I just got "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time." I can't wait to play it!

Ooh! Let me know how you like it! There are so many reasons why I wish I had a PS2 and that's one of them.

The most recent RPG I've played is Riviera: The Promised Land. I thought it was pretty good. But I also happened to get the cool ending.

But I guess my favorite RPGs would have to be Lunar:SSS and EB, Phantasy Star Online, The Legend of Dragoon, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Dragon Warrior Monsters (and damn proud of it!), every single 2-D Castlevania game (if those count), and Valkyrie Profile (why did I sell it!?!).

And there are some RPGs on DS coming out that look pretty good.

RS and Neale, could we coax either (or both!) of you into our RF "Clan" on "Kingdom of Loathing"? It's kind of like a turn-based RPG... except not really.

I played FFXI for about 3 months on-and-off, and didn't really like it that much. The "grind" was too much, and the people in my linkshell were kind of puds. :p

PM me your names in Nexus and Dark Ages, I may have known you :)

OMG You play Nexus? I have never met anyone else besides my hubby who plays that game. Small world lol
How long ago did you play?

I used to play me some Mage: The Ascention in high school, and in college I played a lot of BESM (Big Eyes Small Mouth, an anime roleplaying system). I mostly play World of Warcraft now, but I am desperately trying to start another BESM game.

I wanted to get that game as well. I am still stuck on Xenogears for PS1 where the boss monster is hooked up to those tubes and unhooks when he isn't powering up. I have tried all different combination of mechs but I cannot defeat him. The game won't even let me go out to beef my mechs up with experience.

I enjoy D&D and the Matrix Online. I've been playing RPG's and also GMing since I was 13. Love the genre.

*shudders at the memory* Ooooo, that happened to me, too. I'm sorry you're in that spot! What I had to wind up doing was to write down what level I was in in the current game, start from scratch and try to be about five or ten levels above that. So what's your favorite character in the game?

I like Bart and Rico but I am not looking foward to starting the game over. I thought there was some kind of "hint" or combination that could possibly defeat the boss monster. I already used my one cheat to get through that labyrinth under the church and I haven't even gotten to the 2nd disc.

For all I know, there may be. (When I played it, I didn't have access to the internet then.) Bart's my favorite character- which is odd, since I don't usually like his type of personality. I can understand not wanting to start the game over again! Especially the part where you have to climb up the giant wall area.

There are many bad moments but glorious accomplishments I would not like to revisit. There are very few games that I would never play over and this may be one of them. Good story but I did not like the jumping. Maybe I will have mrscardero look on the internet and phrase the solution in the from of a hint. ;)

what's the difference between D&D v3 and 3.5???

I use version 3, but 3.5 which was released shortly after it contains additional rules, skills, spells and optional character classes. But a sneaky guy like me can get all that stuff on the net and in suplements and not have to pay for the other money-spinning edition! Am I clever or what?!

Describe this game for me. Its not one of those text based things, is it? I don't think I can handle those....

Everything!!!
v3 was very messed up and broken, so they released v3.5.
3.5 is awsome and most of the new products are geared toward it. If you'd like to see the new rules, The D&D homepage has the Players Handbook 3.5 (and other core books) online for free!! (its kinda difficult to find, so just ask me for the link if you have trouble.)
