is 'some' semblance enough?

Is God a God of 'some' truths?

Is he not the God of all truth?

Ahhh...but you overlooked the adjective "Most"...

getting late for me..until next time...I appreciate the lively conversation Pegg...

Instead of working seven days a week Moses gave the people a day off from work to be with their families. Three thousand five hundred years later we got the forty hour work week.

why do so many believe that their god is a wishy washy God. Changing continually.

Old testament – keep the sabbath
New testament – dont bother
1000 yr rest (in the Kingdom) – Gotta keep the sabbath again (scripture below)

ISAIAH 66 [22] For as the NEW HEAVENS AND THE NEW EARTH, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. [23] And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and FROM ONE SABBATH TO ANOTHER, shall ALL FLESH COME TO WORSHIP BEFORE ME, saith the Lord.

So has the sabbath been changed or altered? Many make that claim. But i gotta believe.....

HEBREWS 13 [8] Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

I hope that one day will trust the scriptures enough to put mosaic laws aside and live by the kingly law of love. It is far superior.

Hello Peg
The law of love is not superior. According to scripture they are 1 in the same. All the NEW TESTAMENT scriptures below tell us how we are to love one another (our neighbor). And there all quite clear! Keep the 10 commandments and you will be walking in the “love" mentioned in the new testament.

1JOHN 5 [2] By this WE KNOW THAT WE LOVE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, when we love God, and keep his commandments. [3] For THIS IS THE LOVE OF GOD, THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his commandments are not grievous.

2JOHN1 [5] And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER.[6] And THIS IS LOVE, THAT WE WALK AFTER HIS COMMANDMENTS. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Kinda hard to do a song and dance around those scriptures

JAMES 2 [8] If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF, ye do well: [9] But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.[10] For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.[11] For he that said, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, said also, DO NOT KILL. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

ROMANS 13 [8] Owe no man any thing, but to LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.[9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, Thou shalt not bear false witness, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.[10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

I decided to show the scripture of James 2 and Romans 13 which explain to us how we are to show our love for one another because there will be some out there that will try and tell you the “commandments” mentioned are not the 10 commandments. But as you can see in these scriptures, adultry killing, stealing, bearing false witness, covetness are mentioned. There will also be some out there that will tell you since the “keeping of the sabbath” is not mentioned or “thou shalt have no other gods before me" is not mentioned these commandments can be ignored.

I've found it strange how they tend to be very selective about which commandments to follow; circumcision isn't necessary, but keeping the Sabbath is.

Its really not strange. We are not selective. We believe whats written

1 COR. 7 [19] Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

Although the law of circumcision was nailed to the cross, Gods law (the 10 commandments) are to be kept.

So how did this come about? How and why did Christians turn away from the written Word and keep the doctrines of man? We Christians were actually givin many warnings about these bad guys and what they would do. The warnings are all around the new testament.

1 PETER 5 [8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a ROARING LION, walketh about, SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR:

Watch out for these roaring lions!

MATT.7 [14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.[15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are RAVENING WOLVES.

Beware of false these prophets. They are RAVENING WOLVES. Also implied here is that “the many” will follow these false prophets and but a few will take the way of life.

ACTS 20 [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous WOLVES ENTER IN among you, not sparing the flock.[30] Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, TO DRAW AWAY DISCIPLES after them.

The GRIEVOUS WOLVES were there from the beginning

EPH.4 [17] This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth WALK NOT AS OTHER GENTILES walk, in the VANITY of their mind,[18] Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:[19] Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all UNCLEANNESSwith GREEDINESS.

Well, I found all these warnings from the new testament in one scripture. The Day of the Lord scriptures are so great. Since “that day” has not yet arrived no one can claim that the scripture is for ancient Israel and does not apply to christians. Day of the Lord scriptures do apply to christians (those who believe that Jesus came) and these scriptures will come to pass. To see what these ROARING LIONS and RAVENOUS WOLVES have done, simply read and believe the Word.

EZEK.22 [23] And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,[24] Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.[25] There is A CONSPIRACY OF HER PROPHETS in the midst thereof, like a ROARING LION ravening the prey; THEY HAVE DEVOURED SOULS; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.[26] HER PRIESTS HAVE VIOLATED MY LAW, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the UNCLEAN AND THE CLEAN, and HAVE HID THEIR EYES FROM MY SABBATHS, and I am profaned among them.[27] Her princes in the midst thereof are like WOLVES RAVENING THE PREY, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get DISHONEST GAIN.[28] And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, SEEING VANITY, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken

A conspiracy of the prophets. HID THEIR EYES FROM MY SABBATHS! They meant to do it and they sure did pull it off despite the warnings

Yes. Jews and Christians both need to keep the Sabbath. There is no specific command in the New Testament that says to switch days. That is why I keep the Sabbath.

do we need to keep Holy the sabbath?:yes:

'Anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work.' Heb 4:10

Yes, we do, or we go to eternal fire. We need to rest from striving, from trying to placate guilty consciences, and rest instead on the finished work of Jesus who died so that we may enter his rest.

Those who have no guilty conscience need not apply.

HEBREWS 4 [10] For HE THAT IS ENTERED INTO HIS REST, he also hath ceased from his own works, AS GOD DID FROM HIS. [11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

As God did. This should be rather easy figure out. We are to rest from our works just as God did.

HEBREWS 4 [4] For he spake in a certain place of THE SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works.[5] And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

So when did God rest from all His works? The 7th day. The sabbath. Thats very clear.

Yeah, that heretic Jesus said something about "Strive for the narrow gate", obviously didn't know what he was talking about! Or maybe he meant "Strive for the narrow gate by...doing nothing".

Pretty neat. Pretty, neat.

'It is time for you to act, O Lord;
your law is being broken.'

Ps 119:126 NIV

'I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.' Eze 36:25-28 NIV

'Jesus said, "It is finished."' Jn 19:30 NIV

'And yet, his work has been finished since the creation of the world- because somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: "And on the seventh day God rested from all his work."' Heb 4:3-5

'If Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another 'day'. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; because anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, be eager to enter that rest.' Heb 4:8-11

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

"Because my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Mt 11:28-30

'They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:

"Great and marvellous are your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
King of the ages."'

Rv 15:2-3 NIV

And what exactly was finished? Obviously there was still work to do, and obviously John and James and Jude and Peter still advocated keeping the law, and Hebrews demands you refrain from "sin" (which is "Lawlessness") lest the sacrifice be in vain for you.

It's not a post of random quotes.

That last part is the actual effect of a saved believer. And those laws include Sabbath observance.

You serious? Try the 10 commandments. Unless you feel Christians for some reason need not obey the 10 commandments or that "my laws" didn't involve the Laws in the Torah. Do you need the exact verse of where the 10 commandments are stated or do you just not believe that "my decrees and laws" includes it? If so, you'll have to explain what your criteria of "my decrees and laws" is.
