I meant when someone doing evil deed to people, so people had the right to punish him/her by jail, like murder.

Why? Why is that the compassionate and just response, to punish? Isn't it kinder to understand what went wrong with that person that made them do that, and to cure them of that problem?
Because if there is no punishement to bad people,they will do crimes and do crimes over and over,will be no hestitation in doing crimes.
