Should Muslims be forbidden from practicing polygamy?

@Godobeyer - scriptures don't say much, they don't tend to concern themselves with that kind of stuff, and it doesn't really matter much anyway because Hinduism isn't scripture-centred, it's centred on tradition and experience.

There's no central Hindu authority to allow or disallow things. Among some rural Hindu groups polyandry is practiced, and among some polygyny is. The vast majority do neither.
So your "God" is neutral about this issue :) ?

We don't understand his lila, his play - but across many lives we are shaped by and learn from our experiences.

Sure, OK, but to reduce him to a big legislator is reductive and egoistic, from my perspective.

Different view believe God/Creator could not establish laws as legislator is reductive .

His "play" is: He created life and death, and all will turn back to Him, in Judgement Day.

Anthropomorphising God is always tempting. Doesn't mean it is wise.

God's will can't but be basal and dynamic, rather than extrinsic and so specific as to be made archaic, as I see it.

If it weren't against the law in the US I would think it should be fine. I don't even know why law makers think it's an issue.

Of course it may be possible there are bad sides to it like this cult leader convincing women he was a prophet and abusing his power over them before he was arrested in Canada.

I think doing it for religious reasons seems a bit misleading to me.
"Oh great news wife number one, God just told me we need to add a second wife to our family."

If we had legal recognition of multiple marriages a la polyamory, I think that'd be cool, but I don't see much grounds for supporting what we have in some countries, which is legal recognition of men, specifically, marrying multiple women in individual marriages.

A friend of mine from Malaysia's dad has four wives. His first wife was OK with the second one, but not the third, so he married her without telling the first and kept her in another house.

I don't believe in God love and compassion let evil running without punishement.

God is powerfull than we imagine all people are slaves to Him in some sorts but they don't know :)

Every one should eat and drink and sleep ,and died...etc ,that's His laws we all obey.

I essentially agree with this post, although I'd think God is above something so petty as punishment, but more about our growth and rehabilitation.

The prophet Muhammad was a polygamist. Should there be laws that forbid Muslims from imitating their Prophet?

If you are a Muslim, you must have no objection to polygamy, right?because it was the practice of the Prophet whom God chose to bring the world the true Faith, it can't be a bad thing, right?

I'm against it to be honest.
And I also wonder how much is polygamy in the world present.

I do believe God will be justice in Judgement Day,and His mercy will be advanced to His punishement.

How about God will be Justice ?

Punishment isn't justice. Justice is helping people move past their problems and develop. Punishment is an egoistic thing.

So whom put death or jail so it's not justice.

Doing evil to people intentionally deserve punishement by put bad people in jails.

If you meant psychological help that other issue.

Justice =/= punitive justice. This idea of 'deserving punishment' is not a compassionate or rational one.
