I voted yes, because I like discussing politics with people of a religious background. But I have no problem discussing with Atheists as well.

With discussing religion *only* though, I find it very boring and useless. Other people's religion is none of my business.

Given the amount of animosity, anger, gratuitous anger, and other negative emotions and behavior associated with RF's political forums, do you think RF would be a better place without political forums? What say you?
That's where friends do it.
I'm proposing a place where warring tribes will scorch the Earth.
Ya'll obviously need Satan to moderate the political section with a scorched earth policy. I nominate Old Scratch for the job. Rename the politics section "The Pits of Hell."

I had that in mind.

The only problem I see with that idea is areas where religion and politics overlap, because often religious views influence political views, and sometimes laws are based on religious belief. These can be very interesting discussions/debates, when civil of course.

Is it the typical tone that bothers you the most about political posts? It would be a lot less repetitious if people could rise above the tribalistic attitudes.

Yes, it's the same thing and it's the same people.

That shows your ignorance of the EU so i am not surprised you stay out of it.

BTW, the queen is still sovereign of the UK. The Maastricht Treaty placed into European law that no member county would in any way have its sovereignty diminished.
You love to use terms of denigration.

If I had all the knowledge you seem to infer you have about it, it still makes no difference.

Of course, the same applies re US politics.

Your opinion means jack s**t.

I assume you will stay out of it.

But someone has to point out that Trump/AOC is Hitler. If they didn't do that 84 times a day then people might not realise that Trump/AOC is Hitler and then he/she could just invade Poland and there would be nothing you could do about it.

Is that what you want? cos that's what'll happen...

Keep the forum, nerf the trolls, criminals, and people who argue in bad faith.

I infer only what is general knowledge, i am surprised you know so little about it and yet can still make nonsense comments about what you admit you know little about.

There is a saying, when america sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold. I dont know about you but i have an eversion to catching colds.

Well politics has been apart of these forums for at least 10 years (that's how long I've been here). So no point in trying to take em down now just because socialism is getting its bootay kicked for the first time in awhile. Little disingenuous to keep the political forums the whole time your side was winning then at the first sight of lose try to shut it down. Gotta take your licks, the good and the bad. Grows character makes ya stronger in the end, you can thank us later.

I've long suspected that we were the only thing standing between the human race and complete annihilation.

Considering I see all of that in the other active forums too, with the DIRs being the exception, I wouldn't support removing the political forums.

Keep an empty forum, eh?

I like the cut of your jib...
I like to think there are enough non-trolls, non criminals, and people of differing opinions willing to politely discuss them with evidence and reason that the forum would survive. Frankly, I believe the 6 or 7 worst offenders probably keep several times that number from actively participating, so there would be a net benefit to airlocking them.

Edit: And if those 6 or 7 are all that's keeping the forum afloat, the thing deserves a bullet anyway.
