I think that what you said is also true, we shouldn't be so preoccupied with getting attention. However, what other Christians think does matter, as Paul does tell us to not cause others to stumble.
I know of one scripture of Paul's which says it. It is definitely linked to idol worship and nothing else. I am busy now and then a storm is coming. I shall study up on it if I can.

In other words, the Bible leaves the door open to men to decide what clothing draws their attention to women's bodies, thereby giving them control over how women should dress to accommodate men's inability not to "stumble"?
Umm, it works both ways, men also have to be considerate of their sisters in the faith and their own struggles. It's about serving others, and out of our love for God we wish all to serve Him faithfully.

What's wrong with it?

I understand how powerful hormone fluctuations are in the way sensory experiences are processed. I'm experiencing menopause myself. So I'm aware.

But what I find wrong with it is that in spite of wildly fluctuating hormones that influence my health, my water retention, my energy level, my libido, and my emotions, I'm still wholly responsible for maintaining my behavior with other people.

I am not entitled to a get-out-of-jail-free card if somebody triggers my emotional outbursts with their choices. Neither should anyone with fluctuating testosterone levels be granted that leeway for bad behavior.

I often joke with people who argue that high testosterone that elevates brute strength fosters better hunters and soldiers. I argue that these people obviously haven't come across a grandmother with a shotgun. ;)

I agree that it does not remove even a shred of responsibility. Nevertheless it does make certain people more susceptible to certain things, and from the Christian perspective we have to be mindful of that. If a man looks at a woman and lusts it is his fault, he has responsibility, but that doesn't mean Christians shouldn't try to prevent their brothers and sisters from having the occasion to sin.

Are the restrictions on men's clothing equal to those on women's clothing?

Your avatar is a picture of a man holding a guitar. I'm completely serious when I say that this is very attractive to a lot of women. Do you think you should change your avatar to help your sisters in faith avoid "stumbling"?

Eh, I would say it is basically is, but you may not consider it so, men and women have different bodies, it's difficult.

It's an old man who is dressing very modestly!

Revealing oneself physically is a more obvious occasion to sin than a man with a guitar, we can't prevent everything.

However, it is Eric Clapton after all, who is a sexy beast of a guitarist. You got me, I am actually contemplating removing it, haha.

EDIT: The problem is really with more immediate and sudden lustful thoughts that immodest dress can provoke. Many men actually find women who cover up more a lot more attractive, but that doesn't mean women should then dress immodestly, the point is about preventing immediate lustful thoughts.

Women should be able to wear what they want, be it a leotard, T-shirt, or niqab. No man or woman has the right to interfere with such a personal freedom just because their beliefs disagree with it.
What about a g-string with nothing else? Now come on, you did say they should be able to wear whatever they want. ;)

What do men do when they "stumble", in accordance to your hypothetical?

How do you validate your comparison of waving a beer around in front of a recovering alcoholic to a woman showing skin in front of a man? Are you suggesting men are themselves comparable to recovering alcoholics when it comes to lust?
It's just a case of being considerate :)

I don't see any problem with that.

Actually, in an ideal world, I believe public nudity would be perfectly acceptable. It's only cultural baggage that has made it such a taboo in most societies around the world.

But your stand is immodest dress elicits sexual desire so a woman should dress for the weak men. Tell us in the Bible where council about a women's dress is linked to weak men's sexual desire please.
It's the same idea that Paul said about people who did not eat meat... that he would not do anything that would make his brother stumble. It is just considering others, that's all. :)

How should good Christian men consider women and homosexual as well as bisexual men?
Nice one, haha. You trying to paint me into a corner, or is that me doing it?

I guess you know the answer. However, the example you give are sin. So they should not, if they are practising, have serious relations with them, though that is my opinion and is not necessarily in line with the Church
