People claim Hitler was a socialist, because it's a lot easier having Hitler on the other guy's side than your side. Of course, any semi competent student of history know Hitler specifically, and the NAZIs generally, were in no way socialist, but you know how it is. Who cares about things like facts and history when there are tribal agendas to push?

Yeah, I notice that the internet is riddled with contentious ideas about Hitler. I like the one about Hitler being a True Christian best.

I remember how the US was paranoid about the word 'commie' back in the 50s. If you wanted to do some real damage to someone, just hint that they were a commie.

Oh I don't disagree. It's clear however the extremes are definitely leaning incrementally further left into socialists territory and arguably beyond that.

I'm against the permanency of the Patriot Act and was incredibly shocking to discover that over 60 Fortune 500 companies paid less tax (meaning zero, ziltch nada) then a single person working on minimum wage and made it known here.

If the right enters extreme territory, I'll certainly holler about it as much as I do with the left.
