Soooo...Packers or Steelers? And what's your game day menu?

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I am a banker. I work with a wide variety of customers, from those on a small fixed income, to business owners and oil "tycoons."

One thing that many of them have in common around here is a love of football. I am a New Orleans Saints fan myself, and I have a few things in my office that imply that (like a fleur de lis with Mardi Gras beads draped over it). Since I live in Texas, I'm definitely in the minority, so it's usually good for a laugh.

All last week, I enjoyed lively conversations about the upcoming Superbowl. I think it makes my customers feel more relaxed and see me as a human rather than a banker. Lots of times people feel a bit intimidated by having to sit across the desk from someone at the bank.

Secret pop indulgence: Black Eyed Peas. I've always had a Fergie crush.

Sigh....

My husband is currently in a state of culture shock watching the Black Eyed Peas.

Back in the day, I didn't appreciate football either. But I've grown to.

This. I don't understand people's obsession with grown men paid millions to chase balls around.

IKR? We could use the money people put into football and do far more productive things like building hospitals or give teachers, policeman, and soldiers better salaries (unlike sports players who don't deserve it). Besides, watching my dog fetch is more entertaining than people chasing balls.

Agreed. Frubals.

Haha! I had the sound turned down and was admiring the costumes and Fergie's hair. Will (i am) looked like a dominatrix from Tron. Weird that they can't get the sound mix right for the Superbowl.

Most money probably isn't even worth the paper is printed on. Besides that, they are GROWN MEN and most of them probably have a college degree or bachelors that they don't even need and decided to play a MAN's sport.

I like the costumes too, including some of the packers fans with Green hair, that is rock'n. They could have always played some old fergie music for a real culture shock if they really wanted too. :D

Many people, and many economies, many charities, and many tax-funded programs, benefit from sports dollars. Not just the players.

LOL! Shameless confession:

I really like Fergie, no matter what she sings, wears, or does. I'm sorry, everyone! It's just...she does have lovely lady lumps...and...and - oh hey! That song was on the radio once with my daughter riding in the car - she was about two years old and she sang, "My lovely lady bugs." From that point on that's how it goes.

Not to mention that they could actually contribute something worthy to society like most people who have jobs do.

Asks Kathryn how much the Saints quarterback has contributed to New Orleans. I am sure she will be more than happy to tell you. Not even just the Quarterback, the Saints football team in general.

Many high schools will cut funding for important programs and courses just to funnel it into their useless sports teams. I would like my tax money to further the actual education of children rather than be wasted on pointless crap.

I WOULD be happy to tell them, but I am afraid my accolades would fall on deaf ears.

Thanks for the shout out to Drew Brees though - one of the finest examples of good sportsmanship and generosity in the world today.

Then go to some school board meetings and let your voice be heard.

For every 1 Drew Brees there are 10 Michael Vicks.
