Yes ... I loved Star Wars. I thought it had issues with copying the original (episode 4), but that is kind of exactly what I wanted.
others have noted that as well; but the whole series is based on the mythological cycle of the return of the Hero. Episode I also mimicked episode VI.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a great movie......
- The plot was virtually the same as Episode IV (1977)
But they made it clear that this Death Star is MUCH bigger than the original one. Totally different! :D

- Draining a star of energy, & storing all of it in device? I know it's science fantasy (not science fiction), but geeze Louise folks, that's needlessly unscientific.
I know! What's next? Sound in space?

How about 2001 A Space Odyssey. At Least an honorable mention?

I agree, and much more than an honorable mention. It was way ahead of its time. But then again I am an Arthur C. Clark fan. I just watched 2001 again last weekend.

What other movie franchise looks at William Shatner as the brilliant level of acting they wish they had!

Not to mention his brilliant musical career!

It was not another Death Star!

It was called...um...it was called the Not-Death-Star-Gun-Thing!
Yeah, really....that part really strained my willingness to go along with everything else. Apparently, instead of a small moon, they got a dwarf planet--and had to cut a valley around the middle of it...and it sucked up the energy from a star, held it, then sent out its blast ray....okay, so it used up the star it was orbiting...and where does it get another one to use for the next shot????

Here are some things that don't add up.

Kylo Ren is trying to emulate his grandfather Darth Vader, and to finish what he started. For one thing, Vader wasn't the head of the empire and also Darth Vader is the reason the Emperor is dead and helped defeat the empire. Didn't Luke tell him that when he was training him?

Why did Luke leave anyway? Because he was ashamed? So it's better for him to leave and let the First Order destroy everything than it is to do something about it?

Anakin is a Force Ghost now Why didn't he personally show up to Kylo Ren and say "Dude the Dark Side isn't worth it. Stop trying to emulate me. It caused my wife to die, I ended up as a cyborg and had to take orders from an old lunatic. Not worth it dude."

Obi Wan could appear as a Force Ghost no matter which planet Luke was on, if Luke wasn't enough to convince Ren the dark side isn't worth it, Anakin should have showed up.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a great movie......
- The plot was virtually the same as Episode IV (1977)
- The acting was mostly wooden. Daisy Ridley (Rey) was worthy though.
- The dialogue was uninspiring.
- Some of the movie was predicated on drama we never saw, so it didn't seem compelling.....
Kylo Ren's turning to the dark side wasn't believable.
His murder of Han Solo seemed pointless.
Han's & Leia's supposedly strained relationship was unrealistic.
- Finn's defection from the First Order was the most interesting aspect of the movie for me, but it needed more development to be credible.
- Draining a star of energy, & storing all of it in device? I know it's science fantasy (not science fiction), but geeze Louise folks, that's needlessly unscientific.

I propose an entire movie about Finn's journey from young stormtrooper trainee to rebel scum.
As much as I hate to say it....

I have to agree
