Surprising lack of knowledge among theists.

Without looking it up... how old was Moses when he died?
120. This means what? We believe Jesus to be about 33 when he was crucified. Do you want to subvert faith to some sort of trivia contest? If so, why?

In all of the NT, there is but ONE thing to do: Love each other. Too many miss even that simple tenet.

The book tells you everything. Without it, you know nothing.

I think you're missing what's going on.

I'm giving a bit of a pop quiz. Naturally, I know the answers to the questions I'm asking... I just want to know if you guys know them too, without having to look it up.

Two questions... without looking them up...

1. The question I already asked about which OT event mirrors the exodus from Egypt, and
2. Why did the Jews wander the desert for 40 years? (please be as specific as possible)

Dude... it's 1:42 am, and I've got nothing better to do.

Calm down.
Dude... I am calm. I just find your line of reasoning to be specious and WAY off topic. Start a different thread to play your trivia crap. You can also start one for charades if you like.

Oh, cool. So, then, maybe you can explain to us what your athorism belief system entails.
Sorry, but you will have to stick to a common vocabulary here if you expect me to be able to answer your questions. Since I don't comprehend what you meant by "authorism", I looked it up on Dictionary.com. Unfortunately, rather than learning a new word, I got this message:
No results found for athorism.

Sorry, I thought you would remember what a word meant from one post to the next. How about this "A-Thorism", as in the Thor equivalent of "A-Theism"?

The Seeker

Once upon a time....
There was a book that came out a couple of years ago titled "Religious Literacy" by Stephen Prothero. It highlights American's lack of knowledge of Christianity despite the fact that it is the country's dominant religion. The book reveals that only one-half of adult Americans can cite one of the four Gospels. Also, 10% of adults believe that Joan of Arc was Noah's wife. Therefore, I don't find Dawkins' study to be too far from the truth.

Sorry, it had completely baffled me. Let me look at your question again in light of this re-understanding.

Indeed, I am an avowed a-thorist. I fully reject the stories about Valhalla based on the evidence to me that there is only one God and that Thor ain't him. However, I don't feel that my belief in the one true God makes me any smarter/stronger/whatever than those who did believe in Thor. On the contrary, I am certain that they followed the evidence they had to it's logical conclusion in their belief that he existed.

I hope that helps.

Not really. I was looking for a reason why it would be considered a belief system, and not just a lack of belief in Thor.

I see. Technically, Pete, your lack of belief in Thor is superceded by your belief system. I wonder, then, if it wouldn't be more appropriate to say that the atheist has a belief system that supercedes lack of belief in "God".

Faith and belief are often maligned by those who use it. Some perceive it as some sort of weakness ONLY BECAUSE they just can't see how much they rely on both. NO ONE is superior by their belief or disbelief in a God (even if it's Thor).
