The demon problem

A demon is believed to be a real character who causes trouble on purpose and there are believed to be many such characters.

It seems they are not mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures (OT) but Jesus spoke of them. What are they?

Satan is called the father of the lie and it is taught demons belong to him.

So demons and lies coexist.

Demon might be the name of something that believes it is right but it is wrong. If that is correct a demon need not be something on purpose and a demon might not be malevolent but still very dangerous.

I am not sure that I have ever had a "Demon problem".
or that I would recognise one if I had.
I rather think demons have always been short hand for evil people.

Being weary of such a notion is contemptible. It's easy to blame influence on a metaphysical force.

Responsibility is a trait of character and tact. While investigations go on in this new realm, do be weary.

Accordingly I might be a demon and/or demon possessed and I am quite sure there are people who believe it.

But what I see from my point of view, a demon being a creature who calls lies truth, almost everyone is it.

Let's call Babylon the Great the institusion for the propagation of lies. Everyone who is decided that they won't lie anymore has come out of her.

Let's define a lie for good. A lie is an untruth. The person telling the untruth does not have to be conscious it is a lie for it to be a lie. And the person does not have to have evil in mind for for it to be lying.

Is it not interesting the English word for lie is the same as to lie down with someone? A prostitute which is what Babylon is called, lies down with anybody. A demon will call anything "truth".

The problem is not with demons. The problem is with the idea that demons have a life.

So it is not simply a demon problem. It is a people problem. People who read the Bible believe demons are creatures. Are they? I don't think so. Isn't that a problem?

A demon is believed to be a real character who . . .

Your use of the passive voice here is most telling!

That is, you avoid saying WHO believes this, and IMHO the reason is obvious:

NOT EVERYONE accepts or believes that, and indeed, some of us (myself included) find the statement rather ridiculous!

Indeed, the scriptures of the Faith I endeavor to follow explicitly DENY the existence of a "devil" given that God is One, Supreme, and has no rival or equal. Further, "satan" is simply our own lower (animal) nature when we give it control instead of our higher (spiritual) nature.

So IOV, things are far simpler than you choose to make them. . . .

Peace, :)

LOL! I am making? I am reporting. And I agree with you.

People who believe in demons are dangerous. No?

I agree to an extent,

God can have no equal or rival, but satan does not hold any power over God, neither over humanbeings, he can suggest evil thoughts and we are prone to being influenced quite easily by suggestions because of our free-will.

What does it mean, being weary?

I do not understand your post. I want to. What are you saying, please?

The way I see it, no matter how much we are influenced by something/someone..at the end of the day we are responsible for our actions.

But how can you be certain it is untrue?

There is no certainty. The solution then would be to refuse to make anything uncertain strong. Do not give power to uncertainty. Then you would not be making any lie strong. I know it works. Do not worry that something true might not be strong enough. It is strong enough.

I am not worried about anything :)

Anyhow wouldnt the same apply to you though, you can not be certain that it is untrue..yet you make that "lie" stronger.

Haha. I hope that is a joke.

In case you are serious though.... yes. it applies to me too. If I am not certain it is untrue and I do not make it stronger, then nothing gained nothing lost. Huh?

I think the point is truth does not need strengthening. But people should stop strengthening lies. It makes sense to me.

I was quite serious, how can we determine what is true when there is uncertainty involved? The same would apply to the existence of God.

There are many ways of experiencing the occult, the Hindus know them best..I am satisfied by simply believing in its existence.

I am not talking about the occult. I am talking about people's problem believing demons are influences outside but they are influences inside.

Truth is a gift. It need not be determined.
