The "F word" for those who hate the word "feminist"

I can't stand her. I never could. If she wasn't such a b-word and stuck up, maybe I'd be nicer. But I'm not going to pretend to be polite about someone I don't like.
I sympathize. I only urge invectives which avoid attacking
age, gender, health, etc. What she said was quite rude.

I know that you are, in fact, when all the shouting and rock chucking is done, you yourself are probably very strong on gender equality of opportunity and gender balance. But I've seen your picture, Revolting, so if you wanna hug, go get 4consideration...... you'd get much more out of it... honest! :D

I tell you.... I am so proud of our women, here.... so proud of what's beginning to happen. I place all of my hopes for a less corrupt Britain on the escalation of the females, and I pray that they will mostly have the integrity and values to ignore the corruption that so many of our (mostly male) leaders have been tempted by up till now. I'm that strong on Gender balance, and that dependant on our females.

And when I find similar mindset, you bet I can touch heads, hug, shake hands and shed tears...... you bet.
Alas, I expect that women (in general) will be no better & no worse than menfolk in power.

Just like everybody else needs a spot just to breathe, discuss, and find camaraderie without distraction, feminists are just as human. The DIR is great for that.
That is a valid purpose.

I see the angry humorless feminist trope continues without evidence or substance.
To provide the most relevant evidence would risk violating the rules.
It's fair to say that you will notice slights against feminists more than I,
while I will notice abuse heading in a non-feminist direction. Each
perspective has its advantages & disadvantages, which is why I favor
discussion of the divide.
I note that you aren't one of the ones to call me a "misogynist" or misrepresent
my posts. You sincerely seek to understand....unlike some.

OK....... look..... I have posted once (or twice?) in the men's issues green, but believe me when I tell you tghat I queried why on Earth there would be a Mens issues green, and queried why any would use it. A totally stupid idea. I will never respind in it again.... haven't for yonks.

Whilst understanding the purples for religions and faiths, I never understood the Fem Purple and you know I never went near it.

The purple subforums are for politics not religion. They are group by political movements that certain people adhere to and only those adherents may post in them.

The "Men's Issues" is green because well if it were blue then that would mean either that only men could post in it or only those who were aligned with the MRM could post in it and that would be troublesome. I find the fact that it is green troublesome enough already.

You should check out tumblr. Plenty of evidence of it there. tumblr is to feminism what reddit is to MRA. It gets pretty ugly.

I've read some. I've even been in invited to contribute to some tumblr sites. I like sticking with my feminist blog that I alone utilize. Keeps me grounded.

I think this thread is a great example of why there needs to be a Feminism DIR

I think the backlash is rooted in the idea that feminists shouldn't have the right to have a safe space to just talk amongst ourselves.

How dare we find a space where we don't have to prove our value to the world. lol

People always bash movements, for example I hate the Tea Party and point out their faults constantly. The issue is the Tea Party and its members stand and take it. Feminists in general don't. There might be something to the death threats but I don't know if it is worse than politicians, the religious and the famous get.

How many feminists have you talked to? To make a statement about "feminists in general" implies that you know your statement applies to millions of individual people who self-identify as feminists. How do you know that most feminists can't stand criticism? It seems to me that they do if they're supporting gender equality when feminism is still viewed pretty negatively in a lot of places. If they couldn't take criticism, they would just abandon their cause and stop identifying with the movement.

Creationists would probably say the same thing about their treatment here, or anywhere.

I was trying to think of the nicest way to say this, but either I'm not that nice or there isn't a nice way to say it, but I think the more ridiculous a belief is the more ridicule towards it is tolerated.

What exactly is ridiculous about believing in equal rights for women?

This is a reasonable perspective, but it still avoids facing the more authoritarian & abusive elements
in feminist culture. To you they're extremists, but they are nonetheless part of the public face.
To call it an "excuse" to "bash" the movement is itself perhaps an excuse to ignore valid criticism..
...which isn't always bashing.

It's been a continuing problem in this subject that feminists seldom acknowledge what posters
actually say, but instead address some straw man, ie, a stereotypical misogynistic thug. This is
the trick to paint even this caring, sensitive, learned & multi-cultural egalitarian as a "misogynist".
Are those attitudes extreme? Sure. Are they rare? No, we see them regularly here.

Now before anyone gets overly offended, I find most feminists to be better than the problem
children described above.

I think the two highlighted parts contradict each other.

Even if most feminists on RF were extremists like the ones you described above, that wouldn't necessarily be representative of the feminist movement in general. Most Christians I know hold different views than most Christians on RF, for example, so I wouldn't say that what I have seen here and what I have seen online mirror or represent each other.

There are many feminists here who accept criticism and don't call everyone who disagrees with them "misogynistic" or anything of the sort. I'm not sure why someone would pick out the more negative comments and hold them up as examples of the feminist movement's stance in general instead of the more tolerant ones.

Surely I have seen many religious sections in Same Faith only..... which is.... purple?

The Men's issues in green is utterly daft.
It's tough being a bloke.
Yes... that's right.
And petrol is £2 a litre now, so no fun in driving
Yes, that's right.
And..
Yes, you're right there, mate.

Crazy....... death by accord.

Let me answer........... nothing.
But what is ridiculous is that most of the feminist movement seems to be about, say, gender balance in more video games, and nothing at all about, say, how to move against Female genital mutilation.
Now if you want a whole list of very serious imbalances that feminism has not, is not and seemingly will not address..... then such request of itself will show how feminism turns its face away ......

And yet, as Governments break down the bigotry and build up the balance, feminism cries for acclamation.

No.......

The Same Faith Only subforums aka DIRs are green and blue. Blue means only the same faith can post and green means guest can only post respectful questions and replies. Which is why I do not think that the Men's Issues sub should be green.

Blue does allow respectful questions from outsiders.

FGM is one of the biggest concerns of feminists I'm aware of, at least the ones here. I think you're painting feminism with a broad brush based on what a small minority of feminists believe.

Now if you want a whole list of very serious imbalances that feminism has not, is not and seemingly will not address..... then such request of itself will show how feminism turns its face away ......

I would like to see that whole list and why you think it will make feminism "turn its face away."

And yet, as Governments break down the bigotry and build up the balance, feminism cries for acclamation.

No.......

I think a lot of the changes that break down bigotry are a result of feminist principles becoming more widely accepted. Women's suffrage, despite being a right that shouldn't even be in question, was fought for by feminists until it was widely accepted. I don't think there's any reason to view feminist ideals and breaking down bigotry as two different things.
