Having a good baker in the family is a big win.Yeah, Cisco is loaded with polyunsaturated fats. Or at least it used to be. That would have come in last in the contest. Or perhaps cocoanut oil might be worse when it comes to heart healthy. I have some Crisco in the house. Why? I don't know.
And her butter pie crust was also unbelievably good. Even a pie from the best bakery totally sucks in comparison.
Except maybe for your waistline.Having a good baker in the family is a big win.
Was that crisco in San Francisco?Once you get used to it it's not too bad, has to be cold chopped butter. When I went to America my wife introduced me to crisco, can't buy it here.
Unfortunately it is past tense. Though I am tempted to carry on the tradition. My younger sister learned how. I should be able to as well.Having a good baker in the family is a big win.

Even all of the wicked policeman videos that @Revoltingest has on heavy rotation?I think I've watched all of youtube

That's lard made from vegetable fat.
That's where I dropped the ball. I didn't get any of my mother's recipes that she got from her mother. I hope my sisters did.Unfortunately it is past tense. Though I am tempted to carry on the tradition. My younger sister learned how. I should be able to as well.

I've used it It's OK.The Bay Area, probably the same stuff.
You are a trooper. I wish I had that sort of fortitude.I believe so. I even forced myself to watch the ones of women trying on bikinis.
I still save all my bacon grease. Its good to cook with. Its almost become the new survival tool.I have to admit lard makes good savoury pastry. My grandmother made a mean steak and kidney pie and the pastry had lard in it. Then lard became the devils food and got replaced by vegetable oils. Turns out our grandparents had it right.
My brother and his family are largely vegetarians. But they sometimes have me come over and cook "Mom Spaghetti" or "Mom fried chicken".That's where I dropped the ball. I didn't get any of my mother's recipes that she got from her mother. I hope my sisters did.
When I was a kid, I used to watch that show. I liked it. Then anyway. Haven't seen it in years. I'm not that old. It was reruns in syndication. Just sayin'.
I use if mainly for two things. Eggs fried in bacon grease are very tasty. And I have realized since it is almost "lard' it is probably not that bad for you. And when I make chili con carne I will use very "healthy" low fat ground beef. It is so low in fat that not only do I not drain it, one has to add a little to the pan. So I use bacon grease for that extra bit of flavor.I still save all my bacon grease. Its good to cook with. Its almost become the new survival tool.
It was very popular in WW2
