That's not all that far.
I was in a wildfire as a kid. Well, in an area surrounded by fire. We lived in the country and the surrounding forests and fields caught on fire. I may have been 4 or 5. I remember my parents had all the garden hoses out and had soaked the house just in case. Fortunately, efforts to control it worked before it got to us.

Curious to know what might cause that or if it was just some random configuration for no real reason.
When we first moved here it was bush right up to back fence and we had one racing towards the house. I was out with the garden house and a massive jet flew in and dropped retardant which stopped it. Not sure what I thought I was going to do with the hose.
It isn't really designed for it, but it could help when you have nothing else. Hose the house down and make it more difficult to catch. At least my folks were hoping that apparently.
I've known people who had surgery and found it not very helpful. I'd be cautious.
