This is good, I appreciate optimistic solutions. But then again, all it really requires is that we change the way we think. Is that really that hard? Especially when nearly all of us would benefit from it?
But you begin by saying none of us have.I think there is always hope for change. Humans CAN learn, even if they are not often so inclined.
This is why people are taking such objections. You assume you knkw how we think. You assume we haven't changed. You assume we haven't thought things out. Instead you just want to call us all guilty, lump us all together, and put us all into this little box labeles "guitly."But then again, all it really requires is that we change the way we think. Is that really that hard?
But universal and inherent doesn't mean inevitable. Think of it as a disease. Many diseases are "universal and inherent" to humans. But that does not mean they are inevitable. They can still be eradicated. But it takes will, and effort. Meanwhile, you seem to be saying that this is exactly what we should not bother applying, because these diseases are "normal" and so are not, in your mind, a "problem". Even though they cause an enormous amount of suffering and death. If everyone is the problem, then it should be called "normal".
I reserve the word "problem" for things which aren't universal & inherent.
I notice that post didn't quote any of my statements about Trump.
Had you done that, you could address the issues, instead of just
lobbing unsupported ad hominems.
People were stupid before Donnie. They are the ones who voted for him.
But, you are right. He is making more people stupider.
I'm not detecting superior gray matter in those of you who
preferred the incompetent, corrupt, war mongering alternative.
What you call "disease", I call human nature. But universal and inherent doesn't mean inevitable. Think of it as a disease. Many diseases are "universal and inherent" to humans. It has been pointed out that by abstaining you are increasing the risk of those around you.NOT if they are wearing their masks and the mask argument has any validity...thanks for the softball.
But we have to identify the "better", before we can strive for it. And right now (no offense), people like you are supporting and promoting the disease, claiming it's inevitable, and that it's not really even a "problem". You don't see needless human suffering and death as a "problem" so long as you are not the human that is suffering or dying. Even more-so if you are the human benefiting from it.What you call "disease", I call human nature.
We can make improvements where we can,
but the human remains. So striving for
"better" is more useful than "perfect".
You addressed me in post #146, so I responded.Actually, I was in a conversation with Evangelicalhumanist and stated...
Your specific accusation of my stupidity in post #146You chimed in with a derogatory comment about Trump's 2016 opponent - Hillary Clinton.
You conflate those who support Trump with all whoWhy would someone feel so moved by rocks (pebbles really) thrown at Trump Supporters if one was not a Trump supporter?
I notice that you backpedal from those whoYou can't hide from your own comments. But you continue to try. How silly.
You now offer the company of allies as evidence?FWIW: I am not the only person to point this out to you.
Besides, there are people who live all their lives in smoking homes and never get a hint of lung problems. Why is that?
Is he?It has been pointed out that by abstaining you are increasing the risk of those around you.

I pursue improvement where I see & can.But we have to identify the "better", before we can strive for it. And right now (no offense), people like you are supporting and promoting the disease, claiming it's inevitable, and that it's not really even a "problem". This attitude IS the disease. And yet you have the cure ready and available to you at the snap of your fingers. Just stop it. Change you mind. It's that simple.
We are a cooperative species. We cannot survive alone. We need to live in mutually supportive groups. Selfishness is a poison to us. It destroys the societies that we need to live in, to survive. You really believe any of us has one wisp of responsibility to any other air breather?
I do.You really believe any of us has one wisp of responsibility to any other air breather?
Everyone is doing something. The question is what, why, and to what end?I pursue improvement where I see & can.
But to you, I'm still just part of the problem.
That suggests no point in doing anything.
Sources has been provided, arguments have been made. I am not going to participate in this circular discussion with you any further. It is now up to you to ponder if a small inconvenience is worth the health of others. Good luck!But...but...if masks are working, and they are wearing a mask, and I don't try to get close enough tokiss them then what's the problem?
