Sorry, had to post this, after having just had a rant in another thread...
To everyone who has a religious belief that the hold to be "the Truth," or "the only way to salvation," I want to ask this one simple question:
What the hell do you think you know that everybody else doesn't? How can you be so blindly stupid as to imagine for yourself a God that could make his truth known to you -- but was utterly powerless to make it known to everybody else?
Okay, look at the bit I marked in red and answer me this one, should be extremely simple, question: why do we have to ask "in the name of Christ," and God -- for a thousand years! -- didn't bother to tell His people (the Jews, you remember them) that simple thing? Absent-mindedness? How were they to know "the truth" then -- since they would have benefited greatly knowing that while they were writing the majority of what is now the Bible.Faith in Christ and a desire to know the truth, in spite of those who try to convince us differently. Whenever we want things, regardless as to whether it is a new car or a joint of prime beef, we look for the best for us. Likewise with our reasoning for our existence, surely you can see that if a person has a desire to know about God then it is best to get it from the horses mouth. To ask God, the eternal Father, in the name of Christ and if these things be true he will manifest it to your very soul. That is a promise from God. So, we do not want an unproven scientific theory contrived by man, like abiogenesis, we want the truth, from source. We can see biogenesis taking place every day as I can see Gods hand in oh so many ways. Who is the fool here? Me for believing in proven phenomena or the atheist who believes in an unlikely and unproven theory. I only need to get on my knees to have the truth given to me, I seek after it because I am eager to learn. Don't you have a desire to know? . The Bible tells us that if we look for God then we will find Him. If you do not want Him in your life then that is your choice, no one is forcing it on you, please do not assume that you have something that the Christian does not, the opposite is true and it is us who cannot understand why you turn your back on a very real God. .
Why do you think you are so super to everyone else so you can call them stupid because they don't believe the way you do?Sorry, had to post this, after having just had a rant in another thread...

I don't think I'm "super" (I presume you mean superior). I just think it is stupid to believe in an omnipotent being who can make "the truth" clear to you, but can't manage to do it with everybody else, who believe other than you do.Why do you think you are so super to everyone else so you can call them stupid because they don't believe the way you do?
Reasonable explanation. I don't believe in a loving God. I believe in a God who has little regard for humans, doesn't offer salvation, and sits on His throne with angels in heaven away from our material world. It is been a long ordeal for God. He had a lot of trouble with Satan. Then, he was unable to establish a holy order on earth with his chosen people. God requires obedience, but humans are a rebellious species, they don't obey God's commandments. Subsequently, there is no salvation. I know you don't believe anything about God. Had nothing better to do, so I thought I'd post. Have a good life.I don't think I'm "super" (I presume you mean superior). I just think it is stupid to believe in an omnipotent being who can make "the truth" clear to you, but can't manage to do it with everybody else, who believe other than you do.
And by the way, that works in every direction. I think it is stupid for Muslims to believe that God informs them but not Jews, Christians and Hindus, just as I think it is stupid that Christians believe God informs them (through Jesus), but ignores the hell out of everybody else.
In my opinion, anybody who sits down and actually thinks (using their real brain) about his would conclude that it's a ridiculous thing to believe about an omniscient, omnipotent and loving deity. That they don't get there tells me only that they're not thinking, they're believing.

When asked at his trial, what did JESUS answer to the question; "What is truth?"Because God made it so you have to seek the truth. Even without a god that would be how it works. The truth doesn't come to you, you don't accidentally find it. You have to seek the truth. It can be found it your honest with yourself, open to all ideas and patient.

Did Jesus need somebody to come after him to redo the job right that he failed at? Can you answer the question that Jesus did not?
That doesn't make sense if from an abrahamic perspective. Why would god wait for you to come to him then judge you because you didn't?
That's like a parent judging her child because her child didn't seek help from her rather than her, as a parent, has the responsibility to help her child.
If you take the role of a parent or creator, there has to be a two way communication. If it's one way, that is one of many evidences there isn't a god. It has to fall on the parent first no the child.
Jesus claimed that he was witness to the truth. This does not reveal any truth but allows for faith to be placed in him.
I thought all abrahamic religions believed in the soul, ie that god was actually with them.

Soul being that you don't have to seek god. God is with you. Why do you think that there is not a 2 way communication, God allows you to not listen.Soul?
I dont understand the connection with what I said.
Really? That's a convenient circular reasoning. "Things are the way I believe they are because God made it that way." "This is true, because God made it that way". What happens with this line of reasoning when somebody believes something opposite from you and claims the same thing, they God made it the way they think of it?Because God made it so you have to seek the truth.
No it doesn't.Even without a god that would be how it works.
Wrong. We are programmed from early childhood on through adulthood by our family, friends, community, and culture what things to believe in and value, and what things to reject. These truths are an agreed upon reality, a consensus reality that we are shaped and molded to believe in order to fit in with others. The truth doesn't come to you, you don't accidentally find it.
What you're finding is simply a different perspective, and it is the rare individual who actually presses beyond their given consensus reality they understand as truth and their God happened to ordain as true for them. You have to seek the truth. It can be found it your honest with yourself, open to all ideas and patient.
Yes, I'm familiar -- as well as being familiar with the fact that it is substantially disputed.
The dispute notwithstanding, however, until you deign to tell me how you think it might apply to what I've written, I'm not going to be bothered trying to read your mind and respond. That's generally pretty much of a fool's errand (which is usually the objective when people ask that sort of open-ended question). If you have a specific question about my thinking, I'm happy to respond.
You can only receive a witness of truth after a trial of faith.Sorry, had to post this, after having just had a rant in another thread...

If we are supposed to seek out the truth, why do so many so-called "believers" refuse to do so?
Why do so many so-called "believers" just "believe"?
Why are so many so-called "believers" afraid to be honest about what they believe and not always do what they say they are doing?
Why do so many so-called "believers" investigate pretty much every part of their life before they actually perform the action for those events, but never do so with religion?
There are just too many holes in religion. This also shows the gullibility of humans and how they prefer to let emotions control their lives.
