I checked, absolutely everything, in my bedroom today and found no bed bugs. I'm about to shampoo my carpets, and if I find none again I'll begin the process of slowly moving my stuff back into my bedroom, and for the first time in about four or five months* will be sleeping in my own bed again, a nice big *** soft plushy queen sized bed. 
(bigger than what I'd need or want out of a bed, but after this long of a time it will be nice to sprawl out and have more than enough space, and not on a futon of a thin cushion resting on top of uncomfortable metal bars.)
*The time it's taken me shouldn't be taken for average, considering I had knee surgery, a vacation turned family emergency, and some other things that kept me from going at this with the full intensity and dumping in the consecutive hours and days that one would normally give this problem.

I checked my room twice today, shampooed the carpets, and I'm going to check once more, and if no bed bugs are found I'm probably going the best night's sleep I've had in a very long time (Sundays after a larp game excluded when I'm too exhausted to not get a good night's sleep in).

Of course it was by no means easy, but just seeing one bed bug, picking it up, sealing it in duct tape, throwing it away, it seems to easy as to how this war may finally have come to an end. It didn't trigger bouts of "bed bug stress" where for hours after checking damn near everything small I think is a bed bug, it wasn't uncovered a new spot where they've been gathering, none of them where i would normally find them running around, and just the one.
It just seems too easy to end it by finding one last one hiding in my dresser drawer.

I found an adolescent bed bug in my room.
And as far as America goes, I've been reading a lot that it's only supposed to get worse, and bed bugs are expected to reach an epidemic level.
At least I can say I went from an infestation of a few hundred, to really having to focus and look hard and pay attention to find any. I'm considering back into my room anyways because there can't be more than a few of them left. It's also taking a gamble that just maybe, since they seem to like the material my mattress/box spring in encased in, maybe the remainders will dine on my tonight (no doubt they're hungry) and hang out on my mattress/box spring and I'll be able to kill the rest of them off in the morning.

I've been using Linux for so long that nothing in Windows seems right. Such as, having the X-out button in the right corner, rather than the left where I keep going for it.
