I hate third party companies that handle medical leave. I swear to **** if I learn of another job I lost by getting COBRA papers in the mail (or just lose it) I'm gonna call the rich people I know to get hooked up with a lawyer I'm gonna tell to add a desired payment onto what I'm suing for.

Errors can be difficult to fix in a bureaucracy.
Nah (well, yes, actually) it's just mostly a scam. Pay them month after month, year after year and IF you need to use it for what you're paying them for--even if it's not your fault--they make you pay more. They can even cancel you for using them for the very exact reason you are paying them for.
Don't know about you, but I wouldn't trust security and safety things to a company that seems more interested in looking for excuses to screw customers over and squeezing them for more money than actually working with them and doing the things they are paid to do. Any other company that looks for excuses to not do what I pay them to do is a business I won't do business with in the future. But it's the norm for auto insurance.

You know.... the fact that I allowed myself off center this morning here on RF, the fact that I seem to look at political posts, the fact that I can't seem to stop myself from replying to silliness at the moment, when I know better, the fact that it is a highly political time in the US, which seems to bleed over into RF, the fact that I am easily irritable..... all says.... I need to not be on RF for a bit....so.... I think I will go out, hop in my new car....and go for a ride...... so without further adieu.....

Errors can be difficult to fix in a bureaucracy.
True that. There are stories about people having trouble proving their still alive. ChatGPT found 2 for me:

Here are two stories where individuals had to convince a bureaucracy that they were still alive:

  1. The Case of Jean Hutchinson (UK, 2018)
Jean Hutchinson, an 80-year-old British woman, was declared dead by mistake by her pension provider. Her state pension payments were abruptly stopped, and her death was recorded with government agencies. Despite being very much alive, she had to go through a lengthy bureaucratic process, submitting official documents and repeatedly visiting offices to prove her existence. Even after showing up in person, she encountered numerous delays as different departments struggled to correct the error.
  2. The Story of Clarence Bright (USA, 2013)
Clarence Bright, a 92-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, was declared dead after his son mistakenly informed officials of his father's passing. The error led to the cancellation of Social Security and other benefits. Bright, who was still alive, had to battle various government offices to correct the record, facing frustrating red tape. It took months for his benefits to be restored, and the ordeal highlighted the complexity of reversing such a bureaucratic error.

I need to start chanting a mantra before posting in some threads. Maybe "this too shall pass"?

After I'm done watching this especially violent and gory show about a vampire who enjoys "playing" with his food (he makes Eric Draven look nice), I think another watching of Venture Brothers is necessary.

Yeah. I've heard of other stories. It seems remarkably difficult to prove one is still alive after being wrongly declared dead.

I wish this medical leave lady would not be busy when I call or call me back. Not knowing when it comes to something this important is cruel torture for an Aspie.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
TRUE STORY TIME:

I called the Affordable Care Act number when I realized there was some income I had to report in 2024. I specifically told them that I was only calling to cancel my subsidy, not the policy. What did they do? They cancelled the whole policy. So I called them back and we went through this whole rigamarole. Long story short, I had to call them repeatedly and was put on hold so many times - it was really crazy. So eventually they got THAT part straight and sent me another ID card, with the wrong number on it. Grrrrrrrrrrr. OK, so I called the other company that they contracted with because I got like five statements in ONE DAY from them, with me owing nothing to over $2000. I did not know which to pay. It was insane. I ended up having to call them and get on the phone with them AND the Affordable Care Act people (good times) and I just let the person at the company talk with the person at the Affordable Care Act because at that point I had no idea what information she needed or wanted. I finally got a lone phone call and statement in the mail, which by the way said my coverage was being terminated even though I had called them over and over and over again saying "DO NOT TERMINATE MY COVERAGE, DO NOT TERMINATE MY COVERAGE, IS MY COVERAGE ACTIVE?" and there had never been any mention of the possibility of my coverage being terminated, good grief. Anyway, I just sent in a payment and we'll see what happens, I guess.

Yes. Other than that being the Year of the Hare on the East Asian calendars, we could also say it was the Year of the Hare on any Turkic calendars that might be used by Tengrists today. I say this because something that I learned lately is that the medieval Turkic peoples had the 12 year system too. Some of the animals were different though due to the geography and cultures of the Turks. So, for instance, Leopard instead of Tiger, and Crocodile instead of Dragon.
