Albany, NY was hit with a sever ice storm last Wenesday night and most residents had been without phones, electricity and heat for four days including my father. When the report came that the situation couldn't possibly be fixed until Wednesday or Thurday of this week, I tried to get my father some shelter at our house, a friends or a hotel but he wouldn't budge. He said he would feel more comfortable at his house in case something went wrong. mrscardero and I left after 2 hours of our visit and are still feeling the effects of that chill in that icebox he calls his house. His lights and utilities finally came on at 8:30pm yesterday.

I'm glad I still have electricity.

It's very icy here, so my mom drove me to school. She doesn't like me to risk my life unless she's risking it for me in her own car, I guess... So I finished my final in an hour, and now I've got to wait another hour for my mom to come and get me. That's okay though. I've always got tetris.

Good old California. We may slide off into the ocean eventually, but at least our entire state doesn't freeze over every winter. :run:

Seriously though, I love the idea of four seasons but it does have drawbacks. I hope all who live in those areas affected by the winter storms have as safe a holiday season as possible. :yes:

I hope those effected by the ice storms in the New England and else where have generators.:cold: Glad I live in south where the cold is only uncomfortable instead of life threatening, though there was one year when I lived in Florida where a couple of homeless people died from the cold.

I don't like having to walk to class in the terrible cold. My coat is dirty, so I have to clean it before I can wear it again. Maybe I'll just wear 3 or 4 shirts.
