That's because those other christians follow what their Pastor's Preachers tells them.
That's because I do not follow what other Christians will follow, Had they listen more to what is said in the Bible, Than listen to what Pastor's Preachers will say.
They might find out things that are said in the Bible.

And those that read the Bible, but interpret in a different way than you? Or those that see it as a book like many others? One that is good at saying what certain people believed at certain times, but not very useful past that?

The first question was "how is the Bible evidence?". Given the run-around, I am starting to think that there is no evidence in the Bible.

The bible my not be evidence to you.
But for me, it's all the evidence that I need.
How about going to the real world? That's something all of us share, no matter our religion. So, give objective evidence that would convince an open minded skeptic.

I have read enough of and about the Bible to know that yours is a rather unusual interpretation. Even other Christians do not agree.

Let's see, so let's start with the book of Genesis 1:2, what do you make of it.

That's the whole problem, that people read the Bible, but have no knowledge or understanding of what they are reading.

You do know there are two aspects of reading the Bible.
There is what is written down and there is the spirit of what is written.
Do you have any idea what the Spirit of what is written ?

Let's see, so let's start with the book of Genesis 1:2, what do you make of it.

It's part of an ancient belief that all was created out of water. God is moving over the face of the water and it is dark.

What do you make of it?

More, what do you make of Genesis 1:7?

To you, Why is it not evidence.

Because it takes the form of a claim instead of independent and verifiable evidence. The Biblical authors are claiming that God did this or God did that. Those claims need evidence to back them.

Why is it evidence to me, maybe it's because I am a Christian. Where else would a Christian go but to the bible for our evidence.

You go to the world for your evidence and a Christian goes to the Bible for our evidence.

I would say that Christians believe the Bible through faith.

Ok, the spirit of God moved over the face of the water.
The question is, Why would God create the earth and then cover the whole earth with water, just to come back and have the land appear, which was there in the first place.

Why not create the earth and then put the water in it's rightful place as it is now.

Why create the earth and then just to cover the earth with water.

Seeing the land had to be there to begin with, and then cover the land and then have the land appear out of the water.

As for Genesis 1:7, seeing when God had the water to evaporate so the land could appear, the water was gathered in the firmament above the earth and in the North poll and South Poll, What do you think would happen if all that ice melted ?

When enough water evaporates, and clouds gather then it rains down the water on the earth.

A Christian with any education would go to science for understanding of the physical world, and to the bible and the teaching of his church to guide his spiritual life.

A Christian that is a true Christian will know they don't go to the world, But to the bible for their guidance on all things.
Unto which you just showed yourself of not knowing.

Damned right! [as it were :D]

Do you really think the people that designed your refrigerator went to the bible for for guidance on how to make something colder than the ambient temperature? Or do you think they should never have invented such a device?

Don't be such a poseur.

As to where do you think people went to,
To learn how to read and write and do math, spell words. It was the bible.

That back 200 to 300 years ago, in all schools the bible was the book that people learned to read from, spell words from, learned to do math from, learned to write from.
But you don't know any of this.

My challenge to you is to show me where the concept of the heat pump can be found in the bible.

My challenge to you is to show me where the concept of the heat pump can be found in the bible.

Without the bible, people wouldn't have the understanding or knowledge on how to build the heat pump. For all knowledge of learning first started with the Bible.

People learned to read and write from the bible, People learned to spell and do math from the bible. If people hadn't learned to read and write and spell and math from the bible, There wouldn't be no heat pump.

That still does not answer my question, which was where the idea of the heat pump was to be found.

Well, I'll tell you where the idea of the heat pump came from. It came from observing and measuring the behaviour of nature. Scientists like Robert Boyle, James Prescott Joule and Sadi Carnot observed the behaviour of gases and liquids, changes of state and the conversion of energy involved in these things and developed theories to account for what they observed. Studying the bible would have got them nowhere. That is obvious.

Studying nature is what has led to scientific understanding, not bible study.

There is no algebra in the Bible. There is no trigonometry or calculus in the Bible. So, no, people don't learn math from the Bible. Some may learn a very small amount of arithmetic, but that isn't even close to all of math.

People were reading, writing, doing math, and obtaining knowledge LONG before the Bible was available.

What do you do when what is in the bible is different from what is found in the real world?

For example, it is entirely clear that Noah's flood never happened. How do you handle that?

Let's not beat around the bush, I will always go to the Bible for my source of information.

You can go where ever you want to go for your source of information.
