Do you consider Return of the Living Dead a comedy? It kind of is as it spoofs both Night of the living Dead and the Crazies (the original Crazies). Mostly I hate zombie shows with the exceptions of some of the comedies, the afore mentioned Returen of the Living Dead, and the Walking Dead.

I haven't seen that one. I might have to check it out one of these days.
But I did remember I did really like the anime High School of the Dead, which is about zombies. But it also had a very colorful cast and tons of political references, including one guy that was trained by Black Water and British special ops, and a rather dim-witted group that used the term "refudiate." And a bathhouse episode that is entertaining to say the least.:D

One of my all time faves. A lot of that has to do with my home town getting nuked at the end ( spoiler alert! ). 2 was just silly but cute. 3 was interesting and watchable. I haven't seen 4 or 5, no interest in them.

I would classify it as a satire or lampoon. It was made in part to irritate Romero in which it succeeded. Talking zombies, first running zombies, zombies that could figure stuff out and make plans, etc.

Wasn't it the first to introduce the eating of brains? Before that it was human flesh of any kind. I love how something that was meant to be a joke has helped shape the entire zombie mythos. Oh, and I love the whole Burt and Ernie bit. The only Seasme Street characters to ever fight zombies.

Yep. Tarman uttered the first words from a modern zombie and he made it clear what they preferred and I quote his majesty, "Brains!" and then when more livers showed up "More brains!!".

I noticed the Burt and Ernie thing too. Funny stuff.

Just found out about this yesterday: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Set_(TV_series)

Didn't even know it existed. The shows are only 1/2 hour long (except the pilot) and I wouldn't put it in the same league as The Walking Dead, but it's not bad and it's a good way to take care of your zombie jones while you're waiting for the next season of The Walking Dead to start up.

And . . . it's back.

YAY!!! I purposely haven't watched the season finale from last season yet so I could bank it and another cpl of episodes and sit down with a pizza, watch them all at once and and have a Walking Dead fest.

Think I'll let it go for one more week.....

Maybe not. :D

Haha.

When you said it was "formula," you had me baffled. Now you just have me giggling.

Episode 7 of Season 2 was amazing.

Holy crap was it!!!!

I just watched it. Never would have thought a zombie flick could almost make me want to cry.

(notice I said almost there)

(well OK, but it was only one tear).

I'm hooked.

I'm often disgusted by the moral decisions made but I suppose it would be a bit boring if they did that. :)

Shane and Rick going at it? Who'd of thunk it?

At some point, it just seemed obvious he needed to be dealt with.

That lone walker in the field bugged me. Not because they didn't kill him, but because the message was that walkers are just part of nature now.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
I've seen season 1, and up to episode 2 of season 2 (We get it a fair bit later here in NZ :( ). Season 1 made me dream about zombies, right after the episode where they had to wear a zombie to get through the herd. I LOVE it, and I've ordered in the graphic novels to read. Can't wait - I've read volume 1 and while the plot seems like it's going elsewhere ...
The kid shoots Shane right at the end, when Shane and Rick go hunting and Shane points his gun at Rick

It seems the main message of the story is held true - being a social commentary on how people react/interact when faced with something so life changing as a zombie apocalypse.

Never read/seen anything like this, and I can't wait till Wednesday for episode 3 of season 2!!

I loved that part. In hypothetically if a real zombie apocalypse happened I don't see how that wouldn't work since they would smell death on and it's doubtful there sense of smell would be heightened but likely weakened to the point they wouldn't smell anything beyond that on you.

Shane does make a good moral and ethical case, though we are more often tempted to side with the more empathetic Rick. The good of the many does often trump the good of the few, or the one.

Yeah but it looks like he's still contemplating being Big Man On Campus though...even after Rick whipped up on him and then saved him from the walkers.

I wanted them to kill it. I was thinking it might make its way to the farm...but it did look like it was mindlessly walking in the opposite direction.

Shooting someone in the leg so that another could survive.

Not wanting to look for the girl because you might lose current members.

Things like that.

Well, that's mostly Shane, who's established as an antagonist. They intended for the viewer to question his unstable behavior.
