Theists: What would a godless universe look like?

'behind closed doors' you just finished telling the world how perverse that you are, attempting to glorify it.
Do you have any idea how much damage that you've done, ...my goodness, look who I'm asking???
Like most conservatives, with their enlarged amygdalas, you seem to judge actions by the "ick!" factor rather than by their effects.
Morality is about harm vs benefit, not deontological rules.

LOVE DOES NOT COME FROM STARDUST AND PROTOPLASM - You don't even love the author of love.
So what in the world are you even talking about *Mod edit*?

Love is just an expression of Altruism. Something we and the other ape species all share. In fact we share it with many many other animals and insects.

The whole lot of you, to me, sound sick in the head, like seriously. Utterly disgusting, depraved, hedonistic and perverse.
Not an ounce of shame or reservation from any of you.
If it could ever be proven that men came from apes, your lifestyles would do it - no restraint or discretion, just like beasts of instinct.
This says more about your delusional beliefs than anything else though - and often seems to come from acceptance of some particular 'book'. Your problem, not anyone else's. Perhaps it is you who needs to question your beliefs? But you will no doubt go to your grave believing all this - because you are not capable of truly opening your mind to a different understanding of reality. Given that you seem to speak more hatred than love - which is a bit strange from what your religion is supposed to espouse. o_O

PS. Bonobos (do some research) might inform your last point - as to our behaviours and orientations coming from our ancestors, given that bonobos are the closest to us genetically amongst the primates.

If I was to say it doesn't upset me at all. I'd be lying. Since, I hurt no one, quite the opposite in fact, in that context.
Well sure and I don't blame you one bit. It's pretty harsh and judgmental, and in a very shallow and cursory sort of way.
However, I've come across this sort of thing more than once before online and in real life, and if I am going to be honest about this sort of thing, then I have to expect some comeback on a public forum.
It's still kind of hard to believe that we're still fighting this fight in the year 2023, but here we are.
If he knew me, as an individual then perhaps he and others like him, would find it easier to see beyond the fact I like both men and women in a physical sense, if they are my type, something which has no bearing on my character or morality.

I think that would most likely be the case. I find that our points of view tend to change once things become more personal and close to home for people.
I feel a mixture of pity and annoyance, when I read posts like DNBs.
I feel a little more than that, but let's just leave it at that. :)

Your reasoning and oblivion is shameful.
Should be easy to explain why then, right? Go ahead. I'm all ears.

I find your lack of reasoning, and your rather rude judgment against your fellow human being for doing absolutely nothing wrong, as shameful, disgusting, divisive and archaic. Thanks for demonstrating yet again that Biblical "morality" should be left in the past where it belongs.

Funny, that's how you sound to me. Look at how you judge and speak to other people without a single ounce of shame or reservation.

@Little Dragon as done absolutely zero damage as far as I can tell. What damage do you imagine has been done?

I wonder how much damage you've done in treating other human beings so poorly as you have here. Do you do this in real life too?

All you need is love.

I stepped away from this discussion for a few hours due to the cruel and hateful posts I had read because they upset me. I was reacting negatively to all of the judgmental posts, so I decided I needed a break from the thread. Now that I'm back, I'd like to state unequivocally that the posts you are referring to reaffirm my belief that no one should ever base their moral perspective on the Bible, as well as my belief that evangelical Christians are some of the most hateful and bigoted people I've ever met in my life. Furthermore, the personal conflict I had in this thread yesterday reaffirms my belief that they are often the most judgmental people I've ever met as well. I will say that reading their posts in this thread certainly hasn't inspired me to become a Christian again.

The vast majority of evangelicals I've met in person or online are cunning because they conceal their hatred and religious prejudice beneath the guise of "speaking God's truth" and "spreading the gospel." Some, on the other hand, don't even bother concealing their genuine prejudices while preaching about "God's love" and how they "hate the sin but love the sinner." Finally, I'd like to say that, after reading the posts you were referring to, I'm ashamed to admit that I was once an evangelical Christian myself. In fact, if it weren't for the decent and kindhearted Christians I know, I'm sure I'd loathe Christians by now.

I hear you and I share the same sentiments. I don't know why, but it still shocks and disappoints me to come across such attitudes.
And you're right, it gets couched in "God's truth" and somehow twisted into being some sort of loving position when it's nothing of the sort.

I daresay you and I are better Christians than people such as this.

You preach, and now seem to be projecting your annoyance with those demanding facts rather than folklore, using reason and logic rather than faith.

Christianity posits a judgemental God who leaves no objective evidence of His existence, yet would condemn unbelievers to an eternity of torture, simply for not believing -- but who's compassionate, merciful and loves us.
So is it the unbelievers or questioners who are fear mongering, or the Christians?

Personally, I'd be happy to read and discuss the thoughts of Christians, but what I usually read are their feelings, supported not with evidence or reason, but with scripture and dogma.
It appears to me that you are saying, if I as a Christian, share my thoughts, perspectives, or beliefs in a thread such as this in the Theism category … then it’s preaching. It that what you are saying?

Yeah the poster wasn't convincing me of the reality of their loving God. Nor was I tempted to reexamine my beliefs, neither did the comments make me think I needed to question my own thought processes and morality.

If I was out to slander and misrepresent Christianity, I wouldn't do half as good a job as the poster did.
