Tired of being called a sinner?

Yes but I have to cut down on the sugar intake somewhere and so if I drink sugar free drinks that means I can have more chocolate....:D
I especially like diet cherry coke so I can enjoy over indulgence in that, anyway I guess that would be gluttony wouldn't it and that is a sin....Anyway sin is sin so if over indulgence is a sin then alas, I am a sinner.....;)
Yes but now we have luna and dallas in the pool with us too. Let's see how many we can get to sin.... I mean party with us! Well luna anyway, Dallas hasn't commited yet...:beach:

"
Of course there is sin. It is an offense against a religious or moral law."

I am not bound by any religious or moral laws.

I can relate to that. I try to not do any harm, I care about others so why would I be destined for hell? I guess we'll find out...
Well by the time one finds out who was right or wrong it may be too late, If hell does turn out to be real and what the Bible teaches was correct then :help: ......

I am just curious as to what or how the situation came up that someone would call you a sinner. I could understand in a church service that a preacher might bring it up during a very cleverly orchestrated sermon, but how in the midst of a conversation does someone just call someone a sinner? Do they actually call you that outright or do they just indicate the fact that if you don't accept Christ into your life that you are a sinner? I guess I just wonder if they come right out and say you are a sinner?
I might imagine someone saying this to a person in the midst of a personal conversation that is religious oriented. But how could anyone be so blatant just to say, Do you go to church? Well if you don't your a sinner.....I am just trying to absorb the fact that so many people have been turned off by someone saying this to them. In all the years that I have been a Christian I can't ever remember of offending anyone in such a blatant act of ignorance.

I.

This the standard fear tactic used by Christians, also a wall they can hide behind, since their customers (believers) can't complain if the goods (eternal life) aren't delivered.

Mostly it has been implied by them reminding me if I haven't given my life to Jesus I am a sinner and will go to hell. Not too long after I met them, I got a call from a sister-in-law telling me the end of the world was imminent and that they didn't want me to miss going to heaven with them so I must repeat this prayer after her over the phone so that I could assure myself a place in heaven along with the rest of the family. I was a sinner until I did this. I declined. That didn't go over too well.

The other blatant episode was the one I spoke of earlier when a woman I had never met approached me at a family gathering, she was a neighbor, and told me I should make my mother happy and give my life to Jesus and that having a child which was a sinner was very distressing for her. Or words to that effect. Most of the time I take these episodes rather well for the most part.

:faint:Sorry, but these people make me feel very ill.
They do more harm by their lack of wisdom than they do good.....

Yes, I don't know why they think it will win people I really don't. I love my birth family and it's so nice to have brothers and sisters because my I was an only child in my adopted family, but sometimes...

I love being called a sinner, it makes me feel superior to the people that demean me.
Yes there is something about that word that inspires me too....It's funny how easy it is for people to apply that word to people just because they don't agree with a person's lifestyle.
Even churches don't agree on what things consitute sin. To some smoking is a sin, drinking is a sin, adultery is a sin. Maybe thinking is a sin, but then most people wouldn't be guilty on that count......Unless they "think" we are sinners.....;)

Well that's the thing, sin seems so flexible. It changes depending on what book you decide to follow, or what interpretation you have of the book you decide to follow.

It's all so man-made, and still there are people telling you they're "okay with it, but the [insert holy book] says..." People's shouldn't hide behind scriptures.

Yes one thing that always gets my goat (if you know what I mean) is the people in your own church that look down their nose at you because you are more liberal when it comes to certain issues. These people never miss a chance to let you know they are so holy and righteous but yet they are judgmental bigots who don't really care about or have genuine love for anyone except themselves. In church they act all kind and loving, but if a beggar they meet on the street falls down in front of them they would walk around them instead of lending a helping hand.
It makes me wonder, just who is the sinner? :sarcastic

Yes, been there had that happen many times. However, I don't see anyone as a sinner I guess. I see people as doing the best they can given the model of the world. If people could do better I would say they would do better. Even people who know better, and still don't do what they know it probably the better things to do, usually cannot help being who they are. Confused by that statement:D Wasn't too clear was it. Don't know how to explain it though.

I think I know what is wrong with these people. These conservatives. The dried-in old people and the stiff younger folks. The corpses that walk around in the light of day. The grey-dressed conservatives.

These people are afraid to step out of line, they are too comfortable in the status quo or Zeitgeist of their religious group and simply oppose progressiveness because it is easier that way. They are LAZY, pitiful people, who solely rely on social control to justify their doing-nothingness.

Maybe some of them are that way, but from my experience most of the time it is genuine fear of hell. I have one sister that is terrified of not going to heaven. It's really quite sad. We've had many conversations about this and it is pervasive and very real.

The fear of non-existence seems to be a primary root of religousness.
