She is a public figure. Complain to her handlers and her parents for putting her on the world stage.

I don't like it, and I don't think he should.

But her parents put her out there in the line of fire. They are responsible for her and her wellbeing. Not any politician, not even the President. The parents chose the current situation.

The bottom line is parental responsibility, when it comes to children.
At the risk of speculation, my guess is that the parents knew full well that their daughter was going to get this treatment. They picked it for her. They knew that doing this to their mentally ill child would get them something that they cared about more than Greta's wellbeing.

Her climate activism is part of her treatment according her own bio when she was depressed and not going to school a few years ago. She also has OCD. Her parents embraced this path for her. They are the ones letting her get on stage, said all over the world (while having the sailors fly to transport her around), skip classes, etc.

It's not appropriate for the President to take shots at her personally. She's too young. However, regardless of her age, since she is so vocal, so opinionated, and so famous, the President has every right to shoot down her opinions aggresively.

Except no one is trying to "shoot down her opinions" it's all ad hominem attacks. Seriously, she's been in the public eye for months, of all the "conservative" bile that I've seen directed at her, I'm yet to see a single good faith attempt to actually address her "opinions".

It turns out that the person in one of the most powerful positions on the planet--if not the most powerful--is really very insecure. I can't imagine why someone in his position would value doing it or take the time, but he is Trump and his feelings get hurt easily. Even 16 year old females are threatening to him.

I find people having issues about what is said to Greta hilarious considering how the press and the mob treated the Covington kids.
