Yeah, I know. It's almost like it isn't real. I usually do watch presidential debates - started watching them a bit before I came of age to vote. So about a couple decades now. This was just... legitimately nuts. It is actually insane that a moderator has to fact-check a presidential candidate about the fact that infanticide is legal in precisely zero states.

No, I'd definitely call it insane. I don't know what else to call quotes like this other than bat $#@% insane:

  • "The people that came in. They're eating the cats. They're eating -- they're eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what's happening in our country."
  • "They allowed criminals. Many, many, millions of criminals. They allowed terrorists. They allowed common street criminals."
  • "Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison."
Just... what the actual $#@%. He's literally bat $#@% insane. Delusional. In addition to being a pathological liar.
It would take some extreme gyrations of logic and rationality to come to a different conclusion, imo. You can't even give it credence if you give it the wide metaphorical berth afforded to esoteric and mystical interpretations.

Well duh, we had we had this little thing called a pandemic if you were under a rock.
It was in response to a post that said the current inflation rate was the lowest in decades. That statement was wrong. I never talked about the cause of the 8% inflation rate.

And wow, is it ever a good thing that a world-wide pandemic never happened, requiring pumping money into the economy to keep millions upon millions from losing their incomes, businesses and homes! So glad we dodged that bullet.

You would do well to try to think what really caused that inflation you hate so much. A big part of it was Trump's mis-handling of that pandemic (oh, that never happened, sorry!)
So another example of not understanding what I posted. I was responding to someone that posted that the current inflation rate was the lowest in decades. That was wrong. I was not responding to a comment on the cause of inflation. Please read the context of my posts. It matters.

Trump was doing OK until he mentioned that cats and dogs were being eaten by people in Springfield, Ohio. After that he's been ranting an raving incoherent stream of consciousness nonsense, lying about one thing or another. Trump can't maintain a line of thought. I almost feel bad for him.

Harris is doing quite well in hitting Trump where it hurts. Trump's face is showing it is working. Trump is trying to hit back but he has nothing.
The actual truth is no one is going to be swayed either way from this debate. Each side heard what they wanted to hear and probably could have written their response to it before the debate.

CNN Debate watchers polls:
Who is better at handling the economy : 55-35% Trump
Who understands their problemes more: 44-40% Harris
Who will handle immigration better: 23 point lead: Trump (Uh Oh)
Better commander in chief: 9 point lead: Trump
Did debate affect their choice for president : 96% No
Harris favorability: 45-44% Favorable
Trump 39-51 Unfavorable (Unchanged)
High confidence in Trump: 36%
High confidence in Harris: 32%

I think the whole nation knows Trump’s gonna win by a landslide. Vote for Trump and put $150 a week extra in your paycheck. Putin is never gonna invade Poland. Haha

All in all I have to say that I think Trump did fairly well. He played the raging catastrophizer all the way through, which I am sure was his goal. For whatever reason, it's what his supporters really like to hear. And he was Trump the big tough billionaire that his sycophants imagine him to be, even if the things he claimed about himself and his opponent were mostly untrue. It looked true to his 'true believers', and they are who he was playing to.

Unfortunately for him, I don't think he did anything to dissuade his doubters. In fact, I think he probably gave them more reason to doubt, while Harris may well have inspired some confidence among the undecideds.

For myself, I was both a bit disappointed and a bit hopeful about Harris. Disappointed in that I was not hearing a lot of real and effective ideas for dealing with the myriad of economic issues that are strangling the middle and working classes in this country. Though the milquetoast propositions that she did mention were at least aimed in the right direction. And I suspect she was holding back on these issues in terms of specific intentions to avoid the endless socialist slander that inevitably comes in this country when anyone dares to address economic oppression. So I'm still holding some hope that if she wins, she will take stronger action in that regard. I do believe that in her heart, she does identify in that direction. Whereas Trump couldn't care less about the plight of the working "losers" in this country and has said as much on a number of occasions, and has shown it in his actions throughout his whole life.

And that is what this whole debate was about -- the undecideds. Nobody ever thought (sorry @Clizby Wampuscat) either was going to change their natural bases. It all comes down to the undecideds in battleground states. (By the way, it seems to me a pretty dumb system, that a few thousand voters in a small minority of states determines who sits as President for a whole nation, but hey, I'm a Canuck.)

I can't believe that after 4 years...January the sixth has been brought up by those journalists of that Rainbow-Peacock media.
NBC: National Baseless Claims.

It was a day where cops who were paid 30 pieces of silver killed an innocent woman called Ashley Babbit.
How many "innocent women" participate in illegal, violent break-ins where windows and doors are being smashed to allow mobs to chase down and potentially kill government members? A jurist, you say? I confess to a small amount of doubt.

Unarmed person that could be arrested instead of being killed.
