Total bans on abortion is a favor to democrats?
You haven't noticed?
Before Dobbs, abortion was a wedge issue that motivated the anti-choice contingent to get out to vote for Republicans.
Since then, it's motivated large numbers of people to vote for Democrats. Democrats have won every single election where abortion rights are an issue since. And we have the Alabama IVF debacle and the Arizona Civil War absolute abortion ban reinstatement to motivate pro-choice voters to turn out.
This is terrible news for Republicans up and down the ticket. Keri Lake, who is running for Sinema's AZ senate seat in a close race in which the Democrat Gallego has a small advantage, is doing damage control now trying to distance herself from that ruling. Also, two AZ congressional districts that are presently filled by Republicans are considered tossup, and are now poised to turn blue:
The Arizona Supreme Court ruling just upended everything. Here’s what happens now.
What's so damaging to the Republicans is that they have shown their actual agenda, which was never to return the decision to the states. Now that that's been accomplished, they're attempting to pass federal abortion bans which can be as draconian as the Civil War law, which some Republicans now decry even as their conservative legislature blocks efforts to repeal the law, and they've let on that won't be enough, either. The IVF meddling indicates that.
And Biden is campaigning on the issue. Maybe you've seen the recent ad showing a young couple from Texas with a complicated pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. The laws prevented her from getting medical care and she almost died twice. Biden says that Trump did this to her. Another ad asks, if Trump is reelected, which freedoms will he be coming for next:
