Unpacking Donald Trump's controversial Tweet

Yes. If he wins again it won't be because he is some sort of genius super-villain, it will be because the opposition was lazy and stupid
I never said he was some sort of genius super villain I said he was a shrewd political operator. Which will be proven if he wins two presidential elections. As well as proving the Dems have forgotten the lessons Obama taught them.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Over the weekend Donald Trump tweeted some controversial remarks concerning newly elected as well as popular congresswomen, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley. Trump tweeted:

"So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......

....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how....

....it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

The problem with this tweet is that 3 of the 4 are actual United States citizens so to say "go back where you come from" is nothing short delegating the four women as an other when it comes to this country. citing the New Yorker, Ocasio-Cortez recalls a memory where her father took her to Washington D.C. as a girl where her father showed her the Capitol, the reflecting pool, the Lincoln Memorial, and other sites of American democracy and told her "this belongs to all of us."

The fact of the matter is many persons of color are still taught that we don't belong, and many of us are reminded almost everyday that we need to go back to whatever land we come from. If we are born here then we are to go back to our ancestral homeland. I've personally encountered this on more than one occasion. Considering that I was born and raised in California, I've been told to go back to Africa, but of course now I find it comical because I'll respond "which country because there are 54 of them?" You see, three of the four Congresswomen are U.S. citizens and only Omar, an immigrant from Somalia who came here at the age of 5 is the only naturalized one. Regardless, they are still Congresswomen and are the face of the U.S.

Jim Hines tweeted:

"Unlike the Democratic Congresswomen @realDonaldTrump attacked today, I actually am a foreign-born Member of Congress. But I'm a white male of European descent, so there's no chance he'll attack me. His tantrum has nothing to do with birthplace."

Plain and simple the comment was racist
It's demographics. Not race.

A nation is not a race. Omar is from Somalia. Is Somalia a good place to live? Nope Try again.

You need to talk to a councilor to deal with your paranoia and other issues. You are projecting.

I agree with you on saying he wasn't racist with his tweets. He was just retarded, because he clearly mentioned 'they', rather than 'she', which makes it clear he wasn't strictly talking about Omar. He doesn't know where the others come from nor did he bother to look it up.

Nah. He is just a tool. Not a puppet master...he is the puppet. He is the amusement, the distraction from those pulling his strings. He is just following the script.

He's also an idiot that doesn't think much before he speaks or tweets. However he was the best choice of the two bad choices that we had.

The best choice would been to demand better choices and not to just accept two bad choices. If someone offered me the choice between a cow-**** sandwich and a horse-**** sandwich I would tell them to go take a hike

I like your spirit, but realistically, what would you do? March on Washington? Quietly vote third-party? Better candidates will never win the Democratic nomination. Even now you can tell who the media prefer to win, and no one’s about to win without media support.

Oddly, it was left leaning media who arguably enabled Trump's rise to power.
They gave him free coverage. They also helped us get to know Hillary.
That's a double whammy of effectively putting him in the White House.

But their result was surely unintentional. Trump, with them & even his
own party against him, provide strong evidence that no cabal was behind
him. Conspiracy theories that someone is pulling his strings are loony.

To be fair, while dumb he certainly appears to be,
he was a mastermind compared to his opposition.
This is a bad thing for us.
It could get him re-elected if the opposition screws
the pooch again. Hey, guys...run someone better.
I am reminded of something that Mark Twain once said, in reference to someone he had little respect for: "Even a potato, lurking in its dark cellar, has a certain low cunning..."

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
He has no choice. As head of the armed forces the new President will have more than enough man power to bundle him up, carry him out, and put him on the curb.

.
He'll have no choice.... assuming the constitution is upheld and everyone follows the rules. At this point, how confident are you of that? Trump and his enablers are already jockeying for position, claiming he's "owed two more years" and about being President for life. Sure it's just low level testing the waters type stuff so far, but it's still being said.

Will you still disagree when he wins in 2020?
He may well win in 2020, but it will be because the Democrats continue the self destructive implosion while refusing to address the issues that effect the majority, not because of any skill or intelligence on Trump's part.

As things stand, I think there's a better than average chance that Trump will win, I hope I'm wrong.

I have already. You never made an effort.

There didn't seem to be any reason to do so. Trump can defend his own statements.

Anecdotal evidence. "I once heard terrorist say Allah is Great. I heard Muslims say this too. Something something correlation"

Your point?

So you are conceding it could be completely political in nature. Ergo is those "4" were GOP they wouldn't be targets.

Of course it's political, but that's beside the point.

Agree with your post, thought i would make a small technical correction. All of the women are u.s. citizens, 3 out of 4 are natural u.s. citizens
