Updated Belief O Matic

Smoke

Done here.
I've enjoyed Belief O Matic in the past, but my religious perspective has changed over time, and most of the questions are either completely irrelevant or seem more like political questions than religious questions. My present practice doesn't have much to do with belief at all. However, it was fun while it lasted.

Yeah, I hear ya. Plus, so many of the questions have multiple correct answers.

Done here.
I am quite disturbed I am more compatible with Scientology than the ones below it. Very, very disturbed.

Oh God, apparently I'm more of a Scientologist than most other beliefs. I'm actually quite worried.

Don't worry about it. The editors of Belief-O-Matic seem to be under the mistaken impression that Scientology has something to do with science, and if you answer as if your beliefs have something to do with reason, you'll show a higher compatibility with Scientology than you would in real life.

Anyway when I went to school, 70% was passing. Anything compatibility below that is probably too incidental to mean much.

7. Baha'i Faith (77%)

9. Unitarian Universalism (76%)
10. Islam (74%)

I found a lot of the choices to not be entirely satisfactory, and I am at a place in my life where my thought is shifting around like a handful of sand in a shoebox, so my results vary as I take this quiz over time. Here were my top 10 results on June 16:

1. Orthodox Judaism (100%) * 2. Sikhism (95%) * 3. Reform Judaism (92%) * 4. Islam (87%) * 5. Baha'i Faith (86%) * 6. Liberal Quakers (74%) * 7. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (71%) * 8. Unitarian Universalism (69%) * 9. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (67%) * 10. Jainism (65%)

... It's all good. It's just for fun, anyway. ;)

Not what I expected. I do feel the questions seemed designed using a superficial understanding of religions.

These are the last 4 times I've taken this over 3 years...... This might not be the best tool to accurately show you what you believe, and it's always interesting when what people identify with isn't the top few slots. It's hard to say how and who wrote this, and I'm sure there is man poss. errors in the narrow and wide view of things.

But, I suppose it's still a 'control' in a way, for what it's worth, so it's fun to see how it changed and how things shift, taking it for what it is. If nothing else, it gets me reading for a while, which is always good.

First time, reading oldest to newest, Theravada is on top and the UU's so low.

1. Mahayana Buddhism (100%) Unitarian Universalism (100% Mahayana Buddhism(100%) Theravada Buddhism (100%)

2. Unitarian Universalism (99%) Theravada Buddhism (94%) Theravada Buddhism (94%) Mahayana Buddhism (99%)

3. Hinduism (98%) Mahayana Buddhism (90%) Unitarian Universalism (93%) Neo-Pagan (85%)

4. Neo-Pagan (97%) Liberal Quakers (83%) Neo-Pagan (92%) Unitarian Universalism (81%)

5. Liberal Quakers (97%) Neo-Pagan (79%) Liberal Quakers (90%) Liberal Quakers (80%)

6. New Age (96%) New Age (75%) New Age (87%) Jainism (78%)

7. Theravada Buddhism (86%) Secular Humanism (72%) Taoism (80%) New Age (77%)

8. New Thought (81%) )Taoism (69%) Jainism (77%) Taoism (76%)

9. Jainism (74%) Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (68%) Hinduism (72%) Hinduism (64%)

10. Taoism (74%) Jainism (66%) Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (71%) Sikhism (61%)

It seems 'New Age' and 'Liberal Quaker are the most consistent and happened 3 times on lines 5 and 6. After that Mahayana, Theravada and Neo-Pagan happen two times on lines 1,2 and 4.

I personally identify the Buddhist labels as well do I feel the Pagan designation describes the mystery and interconnectedness with the world. My Wife is a practicing pagan and she conversely feels the language and approach in Buddhism. Not sure what New Age specifically is.... but coming from a Christian up bringing, but realizing how I touch upon that language now is certainly more in that mystic way that would be apparent in the Way Quakers Know. It seems like people get Unitarian a lot of the time on this quiz so I'd like to state for the record I do and have attended regularly UU churches... heh.. but I suppose my label already says that lol. I met lots of Quakers there who saw little or no difference, that is, they were comfortable at either, as I would have to add are similar in experience from attending Quaker meetings.
