Hi, everyone.

My mom and I are in a bad spot and we need emergency rent help. I'm disabled and not able to work due to psychological issues and my mom is 63 and works full time, supporting both of us. Her income isn't enough to cover bills, rent and basic living expenses. However, I'm going to get on SSI and that will help us out a lot, so we won't be put into this position again. I'm not the type to beg and this is our last resort, as embarrassing as it is.

We have been turned down for help from charity and public assistance for rent, so that's not an option for us. We do not have friends or family to help us or provide us with a place to stay. We have asked people we know for help and they haven't been able to. We are poor and living in a poor area.

If we get evicted, we will be homeless and lose everything. We both have severe depression and both of us are on antidepressants. I'm on a high dose and am not able to really function due to my severe depression and anxiety. I just started getting professional help for it and am at the beginning of my recovery. That's just the situation.

The back rent is $875 and October's rent is $525. Together, that's about $1,400. It is due by the end of the week or Monday, at the latest.

My mom is a very hard working woman and has worked all her life, providing for her family. She is very selfless and giving. We have fallen on hard times and are now relying on the kindness of others. If we can get help just this one time, we can put that behind us and focus on long-term solutions while still having a roof over our heads. We're not proud of having to beg like this. It breaks our hearts, but we really need help.

Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated. We do not want to burden anyone or ask for too much. But every bit counts.

I have a PayPal account and this is the page to donate money: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/send-money-online

My deepest gratitude to the staff for allowing me to post this and to all who lend a helping you. Thank you and bless you!

I regret to only offer that we are even poorer than you find yourself to be. I hope you eventually receive the monies needed to facilitate the best of health outcomes in your family. Not unlike you, we most often exist only paycheck to paycheck. Your immediate "situation" should never be an issue within the "wealthiest nation the world has ever known".

Please do your part in voting for elective candidates that best reflect your priorities in this crisis.

Odd that wealthy people never feel any need to make such appeals.

Again, all my best.

Thanks. Yes, it's unthinkable that such situations even exist in America.

I do vote. Don't know why I bother, but I do.

I'm really sorry to hear about that, Frank. I apologize if you have already said something about this before, but do you know anyone that would allow you to live with them temporarily? There's got to be another option somewhere.

No, we don't have anyone like that. I don't know what's going to happen.

Do you have a Salvation Army in your city?

Yeah, but they can't help us. We tried that.

Yeah, but they can't help us. We tried that.

I'm sorry to hear that. So you called them recently, obviously.

Did you make contact with these organisations yet?
Question: Would it be easier for your Mom to get temporary accommodation than yourself?

We're not staying at a shelter. If we get kicked out, we're leaving the state. But, please. Let's hope it doesn't even get to that. One day at a time.

I sent something but it probably doesn't help much at this juncture. Odd that Ohio doesn't fit as far as figuring a way out of this. But if you leave the state, wouldn't your current doctor have to change if you have one?

Thank you. No, every bit helps. It's still going towards rent, one way or another.

Well, yeah, if I leave the state, I'll have to change doctors. :p

Thanks, but we already tried public assistance and charity. They won't help.
Did you investigate the link I provided? (Ohio)
That is the rub. State government assistance programs don't help except for under certain conditions. However, the link I provided isn't to those type agencies.

Also, have you tried to sell things on eBay?

Yes, we've tried all of our resources.

I don't know how to sell things on eBay.

We don't meet their income requirements, no one's pregnant and we don't have a minor in the home.

So they think you have a large enough family income. Why should we believe different? If you are recognized disabled ssi could be an option. Plus your moms social security?

I don't want to think scam but hard to believe that you have examined all options
