Vote For Romney = Vote for Satan

Ok, now to get back on topic. I wouldn't vote from Romney simply because of his religious backing. I would hate to see mormonism or any other cult like religion to become an accepted norm. Christian leaders have been bad enough. We need to be working ahead not backwards. Im sure you guys will see that as unbelievable, but well, nevermind.

Cult-like religion?

Meh, heard that one a thousand times, but it's never ceased to seem rude and inconsiderate.

Well, thank God they are mostly not in this country, but I hardly think that claiming those that have converted to mormonism for food are real mormons. If I was starving and I had to take a book of mormon to feed my family I would take it. By the way, that is a map of the United States, don't mormons teach that in their schools? One more thing, I have been in Salt Lake City for a while and its not the mormon haven as you guys like to think. Out of the 40+ people I polled, none of them were mormons, and the responses I got from them all was either complete loathing to thinking you guys were complete nutts.
Yeah, we are in the minority in Salt Lake, as far as active Mormons goes.

Here in South Jordan it's a bit higher....

At least one LDS church on every square mile block...

I could see one (LDS church) from the window, from where I'm posting now, if it weren't for the many trees and bushes in the way...

South Jordan (just south west of Salt Lake by a few miles), where I live, probably has the highest population of Mormons, in the surrounding areas, just outside of Salt Lake. Salt Lake probably has the lowest of any part of the state, it being a major airlines/traffic hub.

He tries to make it out like Mormons are christians.
Well, you'll have to excuse us when we "try to make it out like Mormons are Christians." You see, we would be lying if we said otherwise. We sincerely believe ourselves to be Christians. For us to say that we're not would be denying that which we believe. We don't expect you to deny your beliefs; why would you expect that of us?

If you do consider yourselves that, you deviate from all other known christian denominations by a mile.
Christian denominations deviate from each other by a mile, Nomy. Why do you think there are over 30,000 of them in the world today? By the way, it really would make discussing this topic a little easier if you would tell me exactly what you believe a person must believe in order to be a Christian, and why you use the specific criteria you do.

No I do not claim to know all there is to know about Mormons. Wht would stand to be gained is the ability to ease new converts into your "religion" without scaring them. Trust me, as far as discrediting the mormon belief, I don't see a purpose for that, simply state what you guys really believe and that would be enough for most to rethink.
We do state what we really believe. Why would we do otherwise. 900 convert baptisms a day seem to be able to discern what we teach and what our critics claim we teach.

Misrepresentation oh his behalf, hmmmmm, like Smith perhaps?
I'm not a mind-reader, Nomy. If I'm supposed to be able to guess what you're getting at, I'm sorry to disappoint you.

Why are there any secrets from the public?
What "secrets" have we failed to share with you, Nomy? Evidently you have learned them from someone. Again, I can't possibly address a question that's couched in vague accusations.

12 Million plus huh, Well, that is another misleading truth. Lets look at the real facts shall we.
Certainly. When you can provide them. I stated that there are today more than 12 million Latter-day Saints in the world. That is not a "misleading truth" (whatever that might be). There are members of the Church in virtually every state in the United States and in over 170 countries worldwide. Over half of the Church's membership is now outside of the United States and Canada. Currently, Utah is about 70% LDS.

Also, you guys post so many contradictions in what you really believe it is hard to keep up.
You seem not only to be able to keep up. You're actually getting ahead of us!

Maybe due to the fact that your beliefs change to regular to keep up with, who knows. So, I would just like to see you guys stop trying to play the victim all the time. Your religion to most is considered to be a hokey cult. If it makes you happy then more power to you, just quit trying to promote it to people and make it sound better than it really is.
May I ask what religion you are, Nomy? I'm sure you consider ours to be a "hokey cult" and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I'm sorry to have to disappoint you though. We fully intend to continue to spread the gospel with or without your blessing. Have a good day, though.

Clinton (Southern Baptist)
Bush (Born again/pentacostal/non-denominational Christian or whatever he is)
Mitt (LDS)
Christ (Light of the world)

Will Christ be next ???

Hopefully, I'm tired of politics...;) ;)

Wow! What over-the-top hatred! It kind of makes you wonder how some people can take such pleasure in being malicious.

Meh, just misinformed...

People use vulgar words when they have a limited vocabulary, due to a lack of education...

The same rule applies when one has a limited knowledge of various world religions...

They begin to be rude and vulgar...as we saw in Johnny's post concerning Keller's E-mail he sent him.

They are in fear of a takeover...;) ;)

Honestly, I thought we were going to be able to have a productive discussion. After reading the drivel you've posted in your last few posts, I couldn't care less why you won't vote for Romney. You've already proven that your opinions cannot be taken seriously.

...is there a reason Romy didn't respond to my posts? How do I find out if I'm on someone's ignore list? Why would I be on her ignore list if she's only just got here?

I could guess...

Well, I can say with some certainty that there are more active LDS members in Lynchburg VA then there were 2 years ago. Some of the change is due to converts, some from reactivation and some from people moving into the area - but then again, we've also had people move out and go inactive too. The net result, though, is that there are more active members today.

For what it's worth...

I live in Utah. The reason why the percentage of members of the LDS church is decreasing isn't because people are flocking away from the church. Yes, people do leave the church, but not to the extent that you are implying. Utah is growing like crazy from people moving here from other places. Also, many members of the church are moving out of Utah to other places. Mormons tend to have families. Salt Lake is pretty urban and not really the place where you'd want to raise your family. People, like in any city, are moving to the suburbs to raise their families.

I don't know about anyone else's feelings on the subject, but I feel that this discussion has got pretty worthless.

Romy didn't respond to my posts either. I don't think it has anything to do with ignore lists. I think it has to do with a difficulty in looking at the discussion objectively.

Oh, it's been worthless for quite a while :)

By the way, I believe that the Utah missions baptize more converts then just about any other mission. They baptize a lot, at least.

I am almost certain you're right. If you're not, I'm sure Nomy will let you know. I've never seen anyone so adept at interpreting statistics. Hmmm... maybe she's one of those actuary types.
