I totally agree! (JayJayDee is not an American, by the way, so she may say that your comments do not apply to her.)
I am a citizen of God's kingdom first and a tax paying citizen of my nation second....as are all JW's. Just as Jesus was a Jew living under Roman domination...he told his disciples to pay their taxes and obey the laws of the land. He did not support the zealots who were plotting revenge on the Romans for their treatment of the Jews. He did not advocate political activity at all, but told his disciples not to be part of any of it. Man's rule is influenced by the one who is in control of earth's affairs. World rulership will be ripped from his hands by force. (Dan 2:44) Jesus will then throw him into a bottomless pit to languish in inactivity for a thousand years. During that time God's rulership is re-established as it was before mankind sinned.
I'm just wondering how Jehovah's Witnesses think any country in the world could function without an earthly government. Can you even imagine the chaos that would ensue if we all just declined to involve ourselves in any civic or government affairs? Suppose absolutely nobody were to vote or be willing to serve in elected office. We'd have no law enforcement because we'd have no laws! We'd have crime unlike anything any of us could possibly imagine. I mean it's just utterly absurd to even try to imagine such a situation.
Why do you assume that we think everyone would be a Christian? This all or nothing suggestion is silly.
Since John said that "the whole world was lying in the power of the wicked one" and "Do not love either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life —does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever." (1 John 5:19;2:15-17)
This indicates that the world is going to do what the world wants to do, regardless of what God thinks. It has its own god and Jesus identified satan as "the ruler of this world". (John 12:31) He is the one who "blinds the minds of the unbelievers" in this world. (2 Cor 4:3, 4) The world is "passing away" and so will all who support it. When this system is gone.....God's people will remain. We will disagree on who God's people are.
Jesus may have said that we should be no part of this world, but there's more than one way to interpret those words. He did, after all, say, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." He didn't say, "Render nothing unto Caesar. Show no support for any laws except God's. Close your eyes and pretend the world simply doesn't exist."
Knowing what things to "render unto Caesar" is an important point. Caesar cannot tell you to kill an enemy when Christians are commanded to love them. It means agape....not the warm fuzzy kind of love...but love based on principle, where we would love them in the sense of NOT "returning evil for evil to anyone." (Romans 12:17-19) If you have to ignore half of what Jesus taught in order to support your political attachments, then think again. Is that "doing the will of the Father" or doing your own will whilst ignoring Christ's teachings?
Jesus accepts no compromise, when there is no ignorance to excuse it.. During this time of the end, all are put on notice. Whether they listen to the message or not, they know who JW's are and what we do.
Only two categories of people will not survive the end of this system....those who don't know, because they don't want to know...and those who know, but fail to obey. (2 Thess 1:6-10) "Just like the days of Noah", Jesus said...how many survived the flood? (Matt24:36-39) The Bible's message could not be plainer.
