And what are the odds of that? The same odds that I would use to describe the possibility that I exist.

And what are the odds of that? The same odds that I would use to describe the possibility that I exist.
I don't think it's possible to answer that question. What are the odds that YOU exist?fantôme profane;1360277 said:And what are the odds of that?
Not very good in my opinion.I don't think it's possible to answer that question. What are the odds that YOU exist?
For some reason, I can't frubal you!fantôme profane;1360285 said:Not very good in my opinion.
But I will say the same thing about myself that I said about God in this thread.
If I do exist then the odds are very good that I am very odd.
How odd!For some reason, I can't frubal you!
Of course . There is no other explination.:sarcasticWe have obviously been created by some sort of Divine being, for some sort of purpose. Is it not that, if we exist, then some sort of maker must exist also?
Hmmm, it seems that I have already posted in this thread, and so I will proceed to do so again. I like to use this analogy.
How do I know that your brain exists? How do I know that your heart is in the right place? I personally cannot see it, yet if I put my hand upon your chest, or feel your pulse, I can sense it. I know that God exists because I have conciously set out to find Him, and I believe that I have felt Him, and feel Him whenever I need Him.
How do you know when someone is in the early stages of pregnancy? You cannot see it straight away, yet the pregnant female (or male it now seems) can feel it within themelves. Is it not the same with the Holy Spirit? If you can find the strength to stand up in front of a crowd and argue for your beliefs, is that not proof enough of God's divine strength?
This argument is kind of pointless in the respect that people will always disbelieve that God exists, so you will always have the constant stream of atheists posting about the non-existence of God.
Just thought I'd say that.

If you were asked to describe your belief or disbelief in god in terms of odds, what odds would you ascribe to the possibility that god exists? One out of ten? Two out of ten? Something else?
Why did you estimate the odds as you did?
Once again you demonstrate a stunning ignorance. There is zero basis for assigning a probability. If god can be expressed as a probability ...
This is an interesting question that I think is a set up for Pascal's wager, but I may be wrong and forgive me if I am.If you were asked to describe your belief or disbelief in god in terms of odds, what odds would you ascribe to the possibility that god exists? One out of ten? Two out of ten? Something else?
Why did you estimate the odds as you did?
Then that would be 9/10.10/10
Because I have had experiences which offer no other option... except insanity...
That doesn't seem right. You are empirically observable. People can see that you exist. That is not the case with God. Why would the same odds be in place for your existence as would be in place for his?The same odds that I would use to describe the possibility that I exist.
I am an atheist. Is your mind open to my world view?It is all to do with having an 'open mind' if you ask me. Having a mind that is 'open to everything and attached to nothing' is getting more and more needed in todays world. Take me for example. I am only 15 years old, but I am more readily accepting of other religions, cultures and general change in my life and the world around me in comparison to my parents.
I used to be a Zen Buddhist, and I still agree with the views that they had on life. I am now rethinking my religion, to try and choose one that fits myself perfectly. You see, I can adapt to different ways of thinking. It just depends on how willing you are to believe that there is someone governing over your soul, as to whether you believe in God.
Can "empirical" not be called into question? Is this (finally) the thing that we are to accept on faith? That doesn't seem right. You are empirically observable. People can see that you exist. That is not the case with God. Why would the same odds be in place for your existence as would be in place for his?
