I really like it. It's deliberately slow paced though, so if you like hyper action it might not be so good.

Kinda how they trashed Doom 2016? because most of the reviewers were either too young to have played how to play the original Doom, which the latest iteration is based off of. The mechanics of original Doom and Doom 2016 is that if you stay still you will die, the closer to death you become, the better the outcome will be, the better the drops from enemies, the more frantic it gets, no need for shift when it is on perma run either, no health regeneration, no reloading, none of that bullcrap that slows down gameplay. there is but a single setting on Doom 2016 and that is ludicrous speed.Currently playing the heck out of Fallout 76. Having a blast, in spite of the predictable bugginess of the game. The game is getting obnoxiously overblown negative reviews. Ignore them. The problem with having a successful franchise is you build up a fanbase that brings all sorts of expectations to any new title. The most hardcore then scream their collective faces off when the game inevitably fails to conform to their particular set of expectations. Don't get me wrong - the game has it's problems. But for the most part, the reviews I've read fail to actually distinguish the games legitimate problems from the reviewer's personal desires about what the game should be.
Best thing I'd name about this game so far? The moments you have when wandering around and exploring have a visceral feel to them that no other game in the franchise has. That's because the game is real-time. If you are wandering down an abandoned railroad track on your way to your destination and spot a horde of feral ghouls on the cliff above you, there is no "oh crap, I'd better pause the game and prepare for this" and certainly no "oh crap, I don't want to deal with this - time to reload." You just have to deal with it. And that's amazing. So many fun and amazing chance encounters. So many stories get woven in this dynamic world they've crafted - both with and without other players.
I just picked up RDR 2 today. I couldn't wait. Now to wait for it to install...I really like it. It's deliberately slow paced though, so if you like hyper action it might not be so good.

It's awful when they hit you with those patches. Thankfully, I'm getting this one included with the install, which is already the biggest install I've ever had for a game. But I'll be smacked with one in the future. LolMan, doesn't that drag?!
I put it down for a few weeks due to work. Picked it up the other night to play (had a spare hour)
Boom.
Mega-patch.
It's kind of creepy when it says "we need disc 2 to continue". Who is "we"?! *Looks at his Xbox with fearful suspicion*
Definitely a great game. I highly recommend PC so you can get plugins and community patches to smooth out the game play.I'm also planning to try Skyrim for the first time too.

Definitely get the official patches and community patches. Nexusmods.com is a pretty good site for patches and plugins (and for several games). There are also graphic enhancements and re texturing packs, and I'm fond of the immersive plugins such as realistic lighting, blood, nature sounds, and add in more immersive weapons and armor (cloaks look so normal and natural in the game I'm disappointed Bethesda has never included them by default). There are also race plugins, plugins that turn Tamrial into other worlds (such as Hyrule), and adding other non-lore appropriate elements to the game, but I really don't care them myself. Thanks for the advice, I'll look through the patches.
