What are you doing this weekend?

My phone does have a camera, but it doesn't really work. It just takes blur.

I haven't had a phone that takes decent pictures in years, but it doesn't bother me much. My husband is a big picture taker; I let him handle it.
I have always liked photography. The iPhone takes excellent photos.

She's a great dog. So easy. Tolerates brushing really nicely.
I sure wish my cats would tolerate grooming. Some of them do but some of them don't so I have to pay someone to come over and hold them so I can comb them and cut some of their fur-balls off. Busia and Simon and in bad shape now. A woman from care.com is supposed to come over this weekend.

Oh. That's a little sad. I'm sorry to hear that. We had a dog a while ago that was very difficult brushing. I'm guessing a difficult cat is worse than a difficult dog, but both are "no fun" in the moment.

Wow! That looks awesome. Are there any specific attractions that you look forward to year after year?
I love the judging of show horses, presentations by 4-H clubs, all of the animals (there will be hundreds and hundreds, from Percheron and Belgian horses down to guinea pigs, rabbits, pigeon varieties, pigs, sheep, goats and much more), with lots of judging for champions. And judging of field crops (again, lots presented by 4-H clubs), It's actually huge, and can take a whole day to get through.

Preparing PowerPoint slides to have my own course material when teaching math for AI/machine learning. It will be a long process, but I want to start this weekend.

I edited a few books on AI / machine learning. I'm curious to know what math topics you're covering, if it won't give away your secret sauce.

My last cat (who finally was put down because she was suffering heart-failure at 17 years old) used to love being brushed -- but only for so long. A moment longer, and I was likely to get a good swat or even a bite. And then, an hour later, she'd come back, present the other side, and invite me to begin again.

Cats really do rule, you know. If you're going to have them, you just have to learn to obey.

Are you just judging the horses' conformations, or are you also judging how they work with their trainers in hand or under saddle?

One of our dogs didn't like it as a puppy, but grew to enjoy the attention...

She gets pretty hairy, though. I remember brushing her out during shedding season and ending with a pile of fur as big as the dog!

Tilly doesn't shed, she has hair. So brushing is a must or else she gets all knotted and eventually shaved. We had to do that once after leaving her with a dog sitter who didn't brush her. She was a sad sad looking pupper.

Oh, no -- I'm not a judge! I've no qualifications at all for such undertaking. I just really enjoy observing. And the Royal is very good at teaching all of us greenhorns a little about how it all works.

Many of my foster homes, when I was very little, were on farms, and I have only vague memories of that. For most of my life, I've lived an urban, not rural (or even suburban) life. I just enjoy being there.

The funny thing about Danes is that we just answer straight out. So you might not like the answer, but you asked. Just as if you had asked how are you doing?

Well, I am coping with the fact, that my wife got cancer again. The good thing is that it is the second time, so I should be better at coping and helping her. The bad thing is that it is the 2nd time.

See, you asked and I answered. Non-Danes find that weird, but that is our culture. :)

I hope all goes well with her. Good luck!

My dog both sheds and has hair... Pyrenees/Newfoundland. Not as big as you'd think(though big enough), which makes me wonder if there's some other stuff in there.

Sorry your dog had to get shaved... I've never cut the hair on any of mine, save for pieces here or there that got a mat or two.

We used to have 'fun' trimming the feral litter that made its way into pethood... cut out one mat at a time...let them go. Do a few more the next day.

I'm going to take a risk and be a bit cheeky now. You know, I think, if you have money, you should engage a handyman and that would stop you mixing up your need for someone to look after the fabric of the house from your wish for a romantic partner. It would not take much effort on your part, if you ask around for recommendations, and I suspect you might feel less depressed if you knew the house and garden would be kept smart and cared for.
I appreciate your opinion but I am now well past mixing up my need for someone to look after the house from my wish for a romantic partner. I am beginning to sort out what I need and what I want in a man. I don't want a romantic partner unless I fall in love again, and meanwhile, if I need work done on the house or in the yard I can hire someone to do the work. Now, if I just happened to fall in love with a handyman/landscaper I could avoid hiring out the work, but I know the chances of that happening are slim to none.
But I do understand how, when one feels down, one finds it hard to summon the energy to break out of it. I have a policy now of "striking while the iron is lukewarm";). When I have got off my arse to do one thing, I often find I have a bit more energy for a while and I try to harness that to get something else done too, preferably something that involves some tradesman coming to the house to do stuff, so I can't procrastinate once a date is fixed. I'm on a roll at present, having just had a new central heating boiler installed. I've had to arrange for a guy to come and repair the bricks, where they made a hole for the new flue, and so I've asked him to repoint the front of the house as well - a job I was putting off. And I had new double-glazed windows put in the front room a couple of months ago, and when the guy came to paint them I asked hm to redecorate the room as well, as it has needed it for years. So now that's booked in and I can't wriggle out of it. It will be disruption for several weeks, but it's coming down the track now and will finally get done at at last.
I am different from you that way. I never force myself to do things I am not comfortable doing, not unless it really needs to be done. Besides that, I have higher priorities right now. I am still dealing with hospital bills for my late husband and a tenant who has not paid his rent.

This house could use a lot of work, but one of my rental houses is in need of work so that is a higher priority. Last spring the HVAC man told me that I need a new furnace, but the rental has needed a new furnace for years and it has to come before my furnace. I still have a furnace that works but the rental house has no furnace at all, only baseboard heat upstairs and a wood stove downstairs. That is legal for a rental but that tenant has waited a long time for a furnace. On the other hand, he has been way behind on the rent for most of this time so I was not obligated to replace the furnace.

Let's see.

My wife is out of town at her sister' birthday party. She took the dog, so the house is rather empty.

I have a female friend coming in tomorrow and we are planning to spend the night together tomorrow night (yes, my wife is aware).

I have some grading to do.
