Vegetarian red beans and rice.
Is there such a thing as non-vegetarian red beans?
Yep.
Around here everyone puts sausage in it. It's odd to make it without meat.
Wow... I didn't know that 'red beans' was a dish!
I just bought Quinoa for the first time. I was going to have some stir-fried veggies with it. Any other suggestions/recipes? This will be a staple in our new heart-healthy diet. I also bought some couscous.
I think quinoa is best cooked like rice... It's the most delicious that way. Although I have made quinoa porridge (which takes about 45 bloody minutes to make; I used to make for my health-conscious ex-boyfriend), it tastes best as a grain.
Enjoy! If I could afford quinoa all the time, I would buy and eat it. It has all your amino acids, iron, niacin, protein, etc. The healthiest of all the grains, that it was called the Mother Grain by the ancient peoples of the Americas.
I love quinoa! It's super easy to cook, even easier than rice and it's amazing how much food one cup produces. I usually stir fry it with some veggies, and then add some pasta sauce. Pesto and Rosa sauces go well. Bacon too.I just bought Quinoa for the first time. I was going to have some stir-fried veggies with it. Any other suggestions/recipes?
