As many of you already know, mrscardero and I re-started Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles (GameCube) some time ago and we are still playing that. I have started DragonQuest IV (DS) because I needed something to play when I am portable or a passenger on long trips or waiting in long lines.
mrscardero bought a new PS2 with a packaged Lego Batman game and New Frontier DVD (liked the comic series somewhat, didn't care for the movie, not a big Darwyn Cooke fan to begin with).
RF member RalphC. came over and mrscardero was supposed to play Lego Batman with Ralph (with the exception of some sport games, RalphC. hates video games). I was tired of the Lego series after the Star Wars series but we thought we would appeal to Ralph’s fondness for Batman. mrscardero chickened out, claiming she had too much computer work to do on The Mod Squad comic (an excuse I invented) and watched Ralph and I play. To keep Ralph C. riveted and his enthusiasm high, I chose Robin and let RalphC. have the Batman character. We got stuck in a part at the beginning and I could see RalphC.’s interest flat-lining. mrscardero came out from behind “her desk” and carefully examined the situation and suggested some directions to get us moving forward.
RalphC. got a glider cape for Batman and thought that was pretty cool but it wasn’t until my Robin character got the helicopter and Batman was able to grapple onto the helicopter and fly around the city that he was finally won over. I have a feeling this will be a monthly event for me and RF member RalphC. If RalphC. is serious, this may be the first video game that he solves and may be the spark that sets off a life-long interest in the hobby. Who knows maybe if I convert him over to video games, sitting him down to watch full seasons of Family Guy could be just right around the corner. mrscardero and I also gave RalphC. the New Frontier DVD as a consolation gift (RalphC. is a tremendous Darwyn Cooke fan).
