From what I have seen of him on various science documentaries, and his own show, his approach to physics and science fiction has had me absolutely fascinated with him. This book looks like it will suck me in, and be considering him one of my favorite scientist, right next to Da Vinci and Einstein.

I've found a book of short stories which is free as a pdf from the site of a guy called Jacobslightreading. But I can't find any reviews or comments on the book. Is there somewhere where these religious/philosophical books are reviewed?

He's an interesting guy.

I'm reading White Teeth (Zadie Smith) and The Name of the Rose (Eco). I've been reading the second one on and off for about a year I think.

So Contact got set aside to make way for the Sword of Truth series. Since starting book 1 a month ago, I'm now 3/4 the way through book 5. Should finish it before the end of next month IF the 2nd-hand book store has the rest of the series.

If not, I'll see if they have Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I saw the film a couple of nights ago, thoroughly enjoyed it, and after reading this review by The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/apr/10/coraline-gaiman-review:
Enchanting and creepy by turns, Coraline is a very grown-up fairy tale for all ages, a story that reads as if Alice's Adventures in Wonderland had been rewritten by Lemony Snicket in a particularly dark and twisted mood.

American Gods was fantastic. I got a lot out of that book. I felt like there were several different layers of story within it that spoke to different parts of me. Definitely in my top 10

I agree. Simply a kick *** book. Did you hear about the upcoming HBO series?

No doubt I'm the 'crazy guy' in the library, bus or where ever else I partake of this one.

Feel this ought to be a must read for every Christian as it's playful and witty....

As opposed to the other one I'd recommend 'The Last Temptation', which was a deeply impacting book to 'My Christianity' and my Spiritual journey.
