What church is the true church?

Pegg

Jehovah our God is One
I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 1 Timothy 2:12

women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34

Are these verses any better?

there is nothing sexist about that. Gods decision was to put men in an authoritative teaching position... women are to respect that. I respect that and I dont feel that im loosing out in any way....rather, i benefit from it.

If it mentions a persons sex then it is sexist. there is no way around that.

so if I put a sign on a toilet door that says "women' and a sign on another door which says 'men', its sexist?

men and women must toilet together for it not to be sexist???

we can take things to extreme... i think Pauls words have been taken to be sexist, but in fact, they are not sexist. God has assigned men a particular role and he expects them to perform that role...he has also assigned women a particular role and he expects them to carry out that role. Do you say that God is being sexist?

God created two sexes...does that mean he is sexist? He gave women a womb, he gave males greater physical strength, is he being sexist?

Cute. You went from Paul's words directly to God's words. Paul is not God.

A men's room is sexist because it does discriminate. Discrimination isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes it just makes a distinction between two things. Apples go into this bowl, oranges go into the other. As for as women's role in the church, the difference is far beyond distinguishing between the two sexes.

And some Churches allow women to preach. Nothing wrong with that either.

Moses isnt God either....but the law of Moses is considered Gods law.

Abraham was chosen by God because of his faith. NO LAW. The history of the Jews starts with Abraham. Abraham is superior to Moses. (Any Jews here? Maybe you could help me out with this one.LOL)

Not superior, I think you're joking but just different messages.

The Jewish nation starts at the very moment when Abraham passes God's test. What was the test? FAITH. Or you and call it trust or fear.

The Jews in Egypt had no Mosaic law. But they were Jews just the same.
Read the book of Hebrews and (Genesis 22:5 and 22:8).

I didn't say otherwise.

women were preaching and ministering in the first century too... its a role assigned to all christians

but to the specific role of teaching as a leader of the congregation, that is assigned specifically to males.

yet the Torah is called the 'mosaic law' or "law of Moses' ... not law of Abraham.

I am curious what role Mary Magdalene actually played with Jesus and his merry band of misfits. The woman was always around, like gum stuck on the bottom of your shoe you can't shake off. She was the first person at Jesus's tomb, etc. The canonical gospels kind of down plays her role. In the non canonical gospels she plays a greater role. She wasn't an apostle but she was definitly a deciple. The gospels were written during a time when men DEMANDED from women to be submissive. Would the story be told the same way if it had happened today?

The Jesus of the canonical gospels had a very simple message. The problem was, it was to simple. It had challenged the authority of the Mosaic law. Jesus's message had nothing to do with don't eat this don't that, wash the other thing.
One day some smart *** asked Jesus, "Hey dude, what do I do to get this eternal life." Jesus's answer was a no brainer. All he did was quote Deu. 6:5.

Luk 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
Luk 10:26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
Luk 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luk 10:28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

And when the Rich man asked him, he said "Follow the commandments".

The criteria used by the early church didn't use apostle authorship for inclusion into the New Testament. The author of the Gospel of Mark was not a apostle. The author of the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts was not a apostle. The author of Jude was not a apostle. Want me go on? LOL.

Why? Because the most current copy of those letters was done after the death of the Apostle? Those letters were copied that the various congregations could share them. Or didn't you know that.

This is about the local church; no where else. Aquila and Priscilla were avid teachers of the word; mighty evangelists.

Luke 10:28 ['Jesus'] said moreover to [the lawyer] "rightly you have answered, this do and you will live".

"This" I believe means "answer rightly" and you will you live.
