The amount of money spent has already come back to us more than 10 fold. The investments government money has made in the sciences has the highest return in economic value of any kind. Any money "wasted" on the space program has made the country more money in the long run. Economically its insane to ever cut the NASA budget.so it was just to show them who's the strongest and the best.

And yet, the Church owns palatial facilities, a vast fortune, & a valuable art collection. They spend it on fighting victims of child sexual assault....we spend it on space exploration. I'd say we get the better bang for a buck, eh?okay...I respect your view.
but I can't help it....I am a Catholic and Catholics tendentiously think that big sums of money can't be spent unless economic injustice and poverty disappear.
Even if we had no economic return, we still went to the f***ing Moon!

well...I have nothing against the NASA. I have a problem with copycats. Speaking of the Chinese...I can't bear the fact that they want to go to Moon to copy the Americans-
So what your saying is no county has the right to invent or explore. Thats asinine. Its not about copying bur exploration, inventing tech, investing in the future and a nations sovereignty.
Let's not get carried away. The Moon was easy & cheap, & we were ready (barely). Mars is a much tougher nut to crack.

there has never been a space race. It's against the Soviet Marxist mentality to compete-. so Americans built castles in the air

After the WW2 No country in the world has ever wanted to attack the US, neither directly nor indirectly. why? because it would be a suicide. So the Russians have always tried to spread the Communist ideology, but without daring provoke the US .
do you really think that the Russians were so self-destructive to attack the US?
