What does the fossil record say?

I wondered how long it would take for the "anyone who disagrees with me is not a true Christian" card to get played.

Not long at all really... shame.

Now... about those Ashfall Fossil beds.

Empirical Curmudgeon
Do you want me to type out what the theory of Evolution says?

Please do.

Problem with that is - it is not uniform.

All the central mechanisms, processes and the evidence for them, are.
The disagreements and debates are about details, not central themes.

"Punctuated Equilibrium" for an example.

Please explain to me your understanding of Punctuated Equilibrium.

Richard Dawkins says life suddenly sprang up from nowhere - others say they're still working on it.

No, he doesn't.

Like that most confusing document, the US Constitution, NOBODY seems to know what the ToE means. The one common thread that I have found is that it binds together all opposers of God.

Ken Miller is an opponent of God?
What about the Catholic Church?

I promise you this: The ToE will collapse with the biggest thud you ever heard.

The difference between us is this; If someone presents empirical evidence to show that I am wrong, I will change my mind. Creationists, it would appear, never do. And the reason they don't is because their view of the world is in no way founded in evidence to begin with.

Financial troubles will lead the way. Just wait.[/QUOTE]

You did not say WHO had 900 wives, but your own source says he didn't.
Your figures were wrong. Will you admit it? (This should be interesting)
When the word "wife" is used in the Bible, it ALWAYS refers to a woman who is married - not a concubine. Where's the lie in the Bible?

LIE! The Davidic Kingdom lasted from 1077 B.C.E. to 607 B.C.E.
That's 470 years BEFORE Jerusalem's desolation. Jerusalem was depopulated in 607 B.C.E. when the Babylonians conquered the city. But, of course, you said "May have been," so you don't know and your source doesn't know.

Read that sentence again - please. You clearly reveal your level of education. I don't know what "educatuion" is. Aren't you embarrassed enough?

Continue: we'll see who gets embarrassed - AGAIN.

I will deal with the rest in subsequent replies.

I noticed you could not post 1 source for your lies.

David - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edwin Thiele dates his life to c.1040–970 BC, his reign over Judah c. 1010–1003 BC

your wrong and you cannot refute the fact that less then a thousand people lived in the area at the time of king soloman, you magically turn david into davids kingdom and move the goal post on soloman YOUR A LIER and you know you have no evidence.

Deuteronomistic History biblical scholars have accepted that these two books form part of a continuous history of Israel, compiled no earlier than the late 7th century BC, but incorporating earlier works and fragments. Samuel's account of David "seems to have undergone two separate acts of editorial slanting.

The point is your bible is lieing about KING SOLOMAN, yes the lies state he had 700 wives and 300 concubines, THERE were not 1000 people living in the area at that time. Soloman did not have 1000 women period.

ITS ALL FICTION

your right about the wives instead of 900 wives he had a total of a 1000 women,, im sorry i got your fiction wrong. either way he didnt have 700 wives or 900.

what i remembered was 1000 lies

feel the archaeological evidence from surface surveys indicates that Judah at the time of David was a small tribal kingdom, although both do accept that David and Solomon were real kings of Judah about the 10th century BC

The only reason you cannot stay on topic is due to your lack of education.

in my opinion the brainwashing may have effected your critical thinking because many facts have been presented to you and you have failed to grasp one of them.

This thread is about FOSSILS YOU HAVE PROVEN YOU DONT KNOW THE BIBLE OR SCIENCE.

please educate yourself in fossils and come back when you have something valid or credible to debate regarding the subject

There is serious disagreement:

I never denied the disagreement between scientists regarding PE, however PE is not a basic tenant of evolution and you can explain evolution perfectly well without ever mentioning it. The same type of disagreement is seen all throughout science, it's healthy for science to have genuine debates on issues like this in the literature.

You have a warped sense of humor. That IS funny!
Thank you.
Those people are not Christians at all and I think you know it.
Clergy:
They are the ones who teach that God burns people in hell forever.
They condone and even promote war.
They get involved in politics.
The strive to have laws changed to accomodate religion.
They try to get creation taught in the schools.
They bless guns and troops.
They pray - for a price.
They fleece their flocks.
They condone sexual immorality.
They tolerate even the most extreme aberrant behavior.
They pray for God's blessings to kill even members of their own religion.
They have no Christian love for one another.
Shall I continue?
Why wouldn't they disagree with me?

Ah, the no true Scotsman. That's a curious list you have there. Not sure how it relates to clergy that support evolution. But if you're one of those "education is bad" type of people, I guess it wouldn't hurt to inform you that most Christians accept evolution, as well as most Jews. Strangely enough though, the more education you have, especially regarding the sciences, the more likely you are to accept evolution.

What is a Christian to you?

Believing in the existence of God means nothing to these people.
"But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, ... disloyal,....slanderers, ...fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, ....lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion (religion) but proving false to its power; and from these turn away." (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Yes, I'm sure their faith means nothing to them and that's why they went into preaching.

"You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder." (James 2:19)

Lucky for me I do not shudder.

And yet many of them do no such thing. You do realise that the right-wing fundie evangelical movement in the US is not representative of all christian clergy.
The list:
They are the ones who teach that God burns people in hell forever.
They condone and even promote war.
They get involved in politics.
The strive to have laws changed to accomodate religion.

Shall I continue?
Why wouldn't they disagree with me?
Well now - here is your golden opportunity to point out the ones that are innocent of ALL of those things.

Mr Outhouse,
I have treated you with respect and courtesy. I hope it is not too much to expect it in return.
But you always seem to be in a fighting mood. I am no fighter.
If you will not stop your screaming and insults when you address me, I will no longer respond to anything you say.

Who will you scream at then?

I hope I make myself perfectly clear.

there is no debate with you at all , there never has been.

You have been given factual evidence and flat denied it.

you fall into this catagory

Wait, are you proposing that ALL Clergy are immoral and preach/live against God?
All but his own personal clergy.

Oh... and the Ashfall fossil beds and the flood.... ?

No it isn't. He was asking you a question.
That does not give him the right to an answer. But it DOES give me the right not to answer.
Besides, I was trying to get him to use his faculty of reason.
If he can pick out ANY religion that is not guilty of the listed practices, that is the one true religion.
If he cannot do it, what does that tell you?
See? A matter of simple deduction.

So, I take it I'm never going to get a response to by Ashfall Fossil Beds then?

Shame really... I wanted to know how dry fluffy ash gets into the middle of what is supposed to be a single global flood deposit.

Listen!
I know nothing about the Ashfall fossil beds.
See if you can enlighten me here.
Tell me all about it.
What does it prove to you? If you think it is conclusive proof that creation did not take place, show me how.

I'm all ears; uh! eyes.

BTW: We don't have a clergy.

The evidence points to the idea that the mass extinction of the dinosaurs happened because of an asteriod not a flood. Other animals are seen dying because of volcanic activity, not flooding. This is evidence against the idea that the flood created the geological column.

Well, the Ashfall Fossil beds are just that... a place where a thick layer of dry fluffy ash (like the ash that was left by that Icelandic Volcano recently) that killed and buried a large number of animals. (much like Mount Vesuvius did in Pompeii).

Now there are some sedimentary layers below the Ashfall Fossil beds and Sedimentary rock above the fossil beds...

If all the fossils are the result of the global flood what happened here? How can a dry fluffy ash layer kill so many critters in the middle of what is supposed to be a flood?

You may have arrived as some very erroneous conclusions. You have no idea what I believe.
It is a mistake to think that I see matters exactly as all the other Bible believers that you have encountered.
Dinosaur fossils have been found on every continent.
First, I would like to know who told you that all the fossils are the result of the global flood. I know you did not get that from me.
Second, I would like to know if there are sites similar to the Ashfall fossil beds all over the world.
Third, do you think that all the dinosaurs in the world were killed by asteroid action?
Fourth, how many asteroids would that take?
Fifth, are all the fossils in the Ashfall site composed exclusively of dinosaur remains?

I think you can see where I'm heading.

Have fun, Ms Wolf.

Why must it be conclusive proof that creation did not take place? Must evidence disprove creation before it can be evidence for anything else?

Third, do you think that all the dinosaurs in the world were killed by asteroid action?
Certainly not, some exist to this day. And only the avian kind were found in the Ashfall fossil beds.

there is no debate about creation and evolution.

Its just great people involved enough in science to share it with stubborn people who wish to remain ignorant due to a 3000 year old jewish book written as a fable and mostly fiction.
