What to you constitutes "modest" dress?

So, in order to determine if someone is modestly dressed or not it's necessary to ask them how they feel about the way they're dressed. Interesting, but I don't think it's going to catch on.

It's pretty pointless trying to insist the subjective into the objective,
but that has never stopped human beings from trying.

i read an intersting news article today about a tunisian woman who took her clothes off and wrote on her body '“my body belongs to me, and is not the source of the honor of anyone”

i was thinking about that statement and believe she is 100% right. There is no problem with a womans body...but with the way men look at and think about womens bodies. So the problem is not with women, but with men...men who look with perverted eyes.

You could cover every women in the world from head to toe, and the problem would persist because the problem is not with women at all... it is with men. And its time men took responsibility for themselves and admit that the fault is with them...stop making women responsible for something that essentially begins with your own twisted mind.

Eve was created in a naked state.... it was only when the man sinned (fell away from Gods goodness) that he looked at his wife differently...so to look or think of a women in a perverted way is actually to carry on a sin.

btw, if anyone is interested in this girl, her name is Amina

To add to what pegg said, I was tired of being honked at, stared, whistled or chatted up. And I'm average looking! I don't know how other women cope, it's annoying and disgusting.

That is what many of us have been saying for a long time.
Men and women are not the property or prey of the other ( it works both ways).

However People do need to socialise with each other, "Chatting up" in the sense of getting to know some one is not wrong, it only oversteps the mark when it is done in the form of a "Hunt" or a "score" or as an unwanted "sexual advance".
Men and women should be encouraged to mix and mingle as "People" not "sexual Prey"

There are occasions where people are looking for potential sexual partners. No one should be surprised if they are approached in these situations, nor take offence.

There are just as many women looking for partners as there are men doing the same. Different societies have their own ways of establishing these links in a way that they find appropriate.

The main problem is 1)how it's done and 2)where its done
If a woman is standing at the bus stop for example waiting for a bus thats not the time to ask her "can I have your number?" "No" "but I like you init"

Also if a guy just wants to have sex with me and done, finish that's it, purely because of what I look like, then yeah I take offence to that because he doesn't recognise me as a full human being.

Thats ridiculous.

You choose people for jobs according to their capacity to fulfill their jobs. Des this mean you dont recognise them as full human beings? Of course not. It means you need people to fill a specific position.

Not recognising them as human beings would be to pay them misery or have no conscious awareness for their wellbeing while they do their job.

Likewise, someone who wants to have sex with ou because of how you look, and would be considerate and interested in YOUR wants in such interaction would not be treating you like an object.

I don't care if you wouldn't be offended and find it ridiculous. I'm saying I would be offended, and wouldn't want someone to benefit from my sexuality if I wouldn't even like them as a person.

I am not talking about whether or not ou would feel offended.

I am merely putting clear that such a thing has nothing to do with pretending the sex partner isot a person.

If you need deep social conections with those with which you want to have sex, by all means fully enjoy that.

About you feeling offended, it makes as much sense as taking offense from any other completely rodiculous and random thing.

To me? Well, lets just say we were on a beach recently, and there are certain bodies in both genders that really shouldn't be in bikinis or in speedos.

I never said that such a thing has anything to do with "pretending the sex partner is not a person"

Ahimsa takes presedence over soeak the truth! You evil doer! :cover:

:eek::D

It's hard not to notice 300 pounds of skin bearing down on you, cigarette in hand. :) I just wore almost knee length swimsuit to go swimming. So what if more of me didn't get tanned. BTW, what is the standard on the beaches of Ecuador, or are you quite inland?

You equaled thinking you are sexy and wanting sex with you without knowing you to not recognising you as a"full human being"

Reality is a lot of full human beings are oerfectly okay with casual sex with strangers. If you are not thats cool, but pretending the equivalence above is silly.

Well, I rarely go to beach, but when I go I mostly see men with their waist to up the knees swimsuits and women with vikinis. I assume e "usual", with some women prefering more covering swimsuits and a lot of mmen also using shirts (as long as they are not going to the sea yet, but under a sunbrella talking with family and such.

The first thing what man want in the Quran is women:

"Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise) with Him” (Surah Aal ‘Imran, 14)

A thing to be coveted? No thanks. I'd prefer to be defined as a human being.
