Where is Logic in Religion?

Jarry

He's being hypothetical. Each individual is an individual, no group is more giving for whatever reason. Their societal standards are not just religiously-based. Or even spiritually-for that matter. All societies have a collective mindset.

Is that why the most secular (none-religious people) societies are the most giving on the planet and the most religious are the least giving?

A strange perception, but a perception.

And which societies would you consider the most giving?

And which societies would you consider the least giving?

Example: United States Versus Norway, Sweden or Denmark.
Or say, Japan versus United States?

Japanese are religious but it is passive so it does not intrude on reality, whiles we Americans are aggressivly religious in that it affects our daily life.

In Science there are certain theories that have been proven which become facts, and set the foundations of knowledge and understanding. Then by applying these we are able to test and apply more theories in order to understand more of ourselves and our universe.
What are the basic religious theories that have been proven, and what have they done for us?

Scientific theories do not become facts.
Facts/evidence support or disprove scientific theories.

Facts and evidence are also open to interpretation and connections between facts made.

All of us occupy the Earth and have access to the same facts,
Science is the study of natural phenomina, to expect Science to prove anything supernatural is moving out of its boundary.

example of a religious theory.
There is a theory in the Bible that all humans developed from a common ancestor, Science as far as my level of requirement is concerned has proven this beyond all reasonable doubt.

Quite what this has done for us is a very large topic.

Let me just point out some facts to you Gabe. The United States is 10 times more giving than Norway, Sweden and Denmark all combined. The Gates Foundation alone has given billions of dollars to worthwhile ventures all across the Globe and continue to do so. Paul Allen donated something like 5 Billion dollars to charity. The US has put up millions of dollars to help people in Hati, and this is just what the government pledged.

As for a comparison between the US and Japan, although they are very similar, the US would still be ahead by a country mile.

It is counted per capita as nations have different amount of populations, United States is one of the least giving on the planet, the Scandinavian nations are the Highest giving with 0.2% of gdp if I remember, we give around 0.07% I think........ Welcome to the real world.

If you cant accept the fact that we are the least giving, tough luck little man. That is just how it is, the Secular people are the most giving whiles we are not. Bill Gates is an atheist by the way, ironically enough. Anyway, Welcome to the Real World. .Dam dam daaaam.

Erh.. Top numbers:

United States - 100,150,000- 14.40%
Sweden - 18,181,860- 2.61%

Sweden has 9 million people.
United States has 300 million people...

Sweden gave 18 million, U.S 100 million, with a population of 30 times more.. Erh.. Exactly what do you mean by that we give the most? You would have to take 18x30 to even give the same per capita as the Swedes. Wow you are unique.

Dude you really need to go out more.

Yes.... counting the hits and ignoring the misses.

Its what support of religion is best at.

I ignored you silly attempt at statistics before. You do understand of course, you haven't factored in any demographics into your equation don't you? Like the child population of Sweden is about 2 million compared to a child population in the US of about 70 million. I will not go into indigenous populations, nor over 65's, nor people living under the poverty line, nor people with disabilities, unemployment levels, et al.

And of course I am sure you have taken into consideration the money as listed was initial injection, not the pledged amount?

I am sure we have had this conversation pertaining to scandinavian countries before.

Something else I think you should be aware of, Sweden is 70 to 80% Lutheran.

It seems to me there is a lot of logic in religion, although much is circular, its the axioms it is built on that let it down.

cheers

Erh, they are one of the most secular people on the planet, they are REGISTERED lutheran until I think a couple of years ago... You do realize I VISISTED Sweden just last year? I have actually BEEN THERE and SEEN the society....

Oh well, I guess you are right, WE RULE, AMERICA **** YEAH!!!!

foot is correct, I am a silly fool following Statistics and facts that show we are the least giving on the planet amongst the wealthy nations, but it seems foot has a better grasph or understanding, perhaps secret information, that shows we are the best, So I concede to this. God Bless America, my CHRISTIAN giving and wonderful Nation... So.. I guess we got good Healthcare for everyone too, just that I didn't know about it... America **** YEAH!!!!

I would say then darkendless, at least religion is good at something, what are you good at?

Well lets see, his lack of religion seem to make him and people like him the most helpful and loving on the planet... That is quite a good thing to have I think.. Especially since I seen the societies secular people create (See Scandinavia) and I know how great WE would be if we became more educated (See Canada)... Oh well.

Being good at being good at things which actually contribute to society positively :)

Yeah, like

1. United States population is in majority Christian
2. United States is the best nation in the world (so says We).
3. Therefore Christianity is best and being Christian is equal to being good.

Something like that would.. Oh wait.. Your Australian.. oh crap im screwed....

There's a similar sort of thing going on, just without any reference to formal "religion". It's more a case of "nationalism" more than anything else.

I think nationalism should be encouraged here.

People keep throwing the race card round and it seriously annoys me. Everything we do as a nation to protect our way of life is seen as racist and i damn well hate people playing their games to make us look like white supremists.

Where is logic in superstition?

Please explain why a positive charge will repel another positive charge.

And explain why gravity causes two masses to be attracted to each other.

While you're at it, why does a magnetic field always act perpendicular to a magnetic field.

Oh, and please explain why gas will always tend to diffuse from a more concentrated state to a less concentrated state.

Also, just to finish up, please explain why any scientific theory ever, works.

"It just does" sounds like a pretty dogmatic thing to say, so I'm assuming you're not going to answer that way. :)

LOL are you the only person to have ever visited Sweden? Do you think others may have?

They are still 70-80% Lutheran today. Which just goes to show how reasonable and responsibile you believe Theists are.
